They play for first-place.
When the Coupeville High School boys’ basketball squad takes the floor Friday night (4:45 JV/6:30 varsity) to face Klahowya, it’ll be the first 1A Olympic League game of the season.
League rivals Port Townsend (0-3 in non-conference play) and Chimacum (0-3) will take turns playing non-league foe Blaine this weekend.
So, while the Wolves (1-4) and Eagles (0-4) may not have stellar win-loss records, the victor will have sole possession of the top spot in the conference — at least for a night.
