They closed with a bang.
Playing deep on the road at Sultan Tuesday night, the Coupeville High School boys C-Team basketball squad pulled out a thriller.
The young Wolves scored only once in the fourth quarter, but that bucket from Alex Wasik was the difference in a 28-26 win.
The victory, coming in the season finale for the C-Team, lifts it to 2-7 in North Sound Conference play, 3-10 overall.
Trailing 11-6 at the first break, Coupeville made its move in the second quarter Tuesday, ripping off a 14-3 run to grab control of the game.
Playing for coach Patrick Upchurch for the final time this season, the Wolves got hot shooting from a trio of freshmen, as Ty Hamilton, Dominic Coffman, and Wasik combined to drill the Turks.
Hamilton popped for seven points in the second quarter, hitting a pair of free throws, a field goal, and a three-ball.
Coffman was hot on his heels with five, while Wasik, who scored in all four quarters, dropped in a bucket to round out the assault.
With the lead in hand at 20-14, the Wolves battled Sultan through a 6-6 third quarter, then held on for the win with a solid defensive effort down the stretch.
Hamilton finished with a game-high 11 points on mom Shannon’s birthday, while Coffman banked in nine, and Wasik slapped home a bucket per quarter while recording eight.
Also seeing floor time for the Wolves during their sweet finale were Nick Armstrong, Josh Upchurch, Coen Killian, Caleb Sonntag, and Brayden Coatney.
