She’s dangerous everywhere.
After starting the season as a libero, Mia Farris bounced back into a hitting-heavy role this past weekend as the Whatcom College women’s volleyball team scrambled to deal with injuries.
No matter where the Orca coaches placed the Coupeville grad, she responded in style, peppering a series of foes as WCC battled through four intense matches on the road.
And while Whatcom only came out on top in one of the four, dropping its record to 3-5 on the season, Farris more than held up her end of the bargain.
The former two-time CHS Athlete of the Year winner collected 12 kills, 13 service aces, one block assist, and a team-high 51 digs, while racking up 24.5 points while facing off with Spokane, North Idaho, Green River, and Wenatchee Valley.
On the season Farris has 12 kills, 12 assists, 17 aces, 119 digs, and 29.5 points, and leads Whatcom in digs, sitting 47 ahead of the team’s #2 floor scraper.
She and her teammates, who include a former Northwest 2B/1B League rival in Kayleigh Collins of Concrete, return to action September 4-5, when they travel to Columbia Basin College for another four-pack of games.
