It was a triple feature of pain.
Coupeville High School sent three teams to the mainland Tuesday to face Mount Vernon Christian, and all three Wolf squads were knocked out by the host Hurricanes.
Both CHS volleyball teams and girls’ soccer absorbed league losses but will get back at it with hope still burning.
The booters host La Conner Thursday, with a 5:00 PM kickoff and free admission, while the varsity spikers head to Sultan Saturday for a tournament.

Coupeville started strongly but faded as the night went on, taking a 25-20, 25-13, 25-10 loss.
The defeat drops the Wolves to 1-1 in Northwest 2B/1B League play, 1-3 overall.

Alita Blouin’s squad put up its strongest fight of the season, pushing the ‘Canes to the end before falling in a tense 25-14, 23-25, 15-11 loss.
Now 0-2 in conference action, 0-4 overall, the young guns return to action next Monday, September 28 when both CHS spiker squads host non-conference rival Cedar Park Christian-Bothell.

The previously undefeated booters hit their first bump in the road this season but remain atop the Northwest 2B/1B League standings.
MVC, which has been the premier unit in the conference in recent seasons, won 5-0 to drop CHS to 2-1-1 in NWL action, 3-1-1 overall.
Jasmine Ader’s team still sits in a tie with Lopez Island, which is also 2-1-1 for seven points.
Meanwhile MVC (2-0-0 for six points), Friday Harbor (2-1-0 for six points), La Conner (1-1-0 for three points), Providence Classical Christian (1-2-0 for three points), and Orcas Island (0-4-0 for zero points) round out the standings.
