She impressed the young folk.
Playing on “Youth Night” Tuesday, Coupeville grad Mia Farris helped spark the Whatcom College women’s volleyball squad to its third win in its last five matches.
With patrons of a certain age getting in for free, the Orcas stormed past visiting Olympic College 25-22, 25-12, 25-20 to get to 7-11 on the season.
Farris, a two-time CHS Athlete of the Year winner during her Cow Town days, racked up nine digs, three assists, and two service aces in the bout, while having plenty of support from her hometown.
Fellow Coupeville alumni Pamela Morell and Ember Light are now cheerleaders at Whatcom, and the duo worked Tuesday’s match.
Farris, who has bounced between positions for the Orcas during her sophomore season, has filled up the stat sheet night in and night out.
She currently sits with 36 kills, 20 assists, 35 aces, 203 digs, two solo blocks, a block assist, and 73.5 points.
Next up for Farris and her teammates is a road trip to Everett Friday, followed by a home match against Skagit Valley Oct. 7.
The second of those matches will bring fellow Wolf legend Lyla Stuurmans to town for the first of two matchups this season between the former CHS teammates.
