They’ve never seen anything like this before in Coupeville High School soccer history.
Girls or boys.
Freshman goaltender Finley Helm moved out into the field for part of Saturday’s game in Port Townsend and became the 16th Wolf girl to score this season.
That helped CHS eke out a hard-fought 2-2 non-conference tie with host East Jefferson, which is a mashup of Chimacum and Port Townsend players.
The draw leaves Coupeville at 6-5-3 heading into the regular season finale at home Thursday, October 29 against Northwest 2B/1B League rival Friday Harbor.
Kickoff for the free-admission rumble is set for 4:00 PM at Mickey Clark Field, and since the Wolves have no 12th graders on their roster, they are inviting local senior citizens to attend and be honored on Senior Night.
For those who show up, they’ll see a band of pitch warriors who have achieved something never before done in Coupeville soccer history.
When Helm scored, notching her first goal of the season and second of her prep career, she made sure every girl on the 2026 roster will finish with a score.
With 16 players combining for 32 goals, the Wolves also break a tie with the 2004 CHS boys’ squad, which saw 15 players hit the back of the net.
The previous single-season high for a Coupeville girls’ team was nine scorers, achieved in 2015 and 2017.
Saturday’s other goal came courtesy rampaging 8th grader Lucy Schisel, who knocked in her team-leading sixth score.
With Helm playing the field in the first half, the Wolves used Bella Sandlin and Lyla Grose in the net, before Helm returned to netminder duties after the halftime break.
