“It’s honestly crazy to think that my volleyball career is coming to an end.”
Coupeville High School senior Haylee Armstrong summed up what she and teammates Lexis Drake and Capri Anter were thinking Tuesday night.
From middle school through high school the trio has been at the heart of the world of spikes and sets, and they aren’t done quite yet.
While they put an exclamation point on the regular season with a sweep of Friday Harbor and a Senior Night celebration, the playoffs are still to come, and will likely kick off with a home match.
But on this night, it was about celebrating what has come, and what it has meant to them.
“Thank you to this team and coaches for pushing me to do better,” Drake said. “These memories will never fade. I will forever miss playing with this team.”
“Just know that each of you has made an impact on my senior season in your own way,” Anter added. “I wouldn’t change any of it for the world, and I’m glad I got to play with you all one last time.”
