One campaign is done; a new one begins.
Mount Vernon Christian blasted La Conner off the floor Friday night in the final regular season volleyball match among Northwest 2B/1B League rivals, and everything from here on out is playoff pandemonium.
The two 1B schools from the conference, league champ Darrington and cellar dweller Concrete, have already begun their postseason runs, while the 2B schools get at it starting early next week.
MVC (15-1) goes in as the #1 seed from the NWL, followed by Coupeville (8-7), La Conner (7-9), and Friday Harbor (4-8), which eliminated Orcas Island from playoff contention in the waning moments.
The four-pack are joined at the District 1/2 tourney by three squads from District 2 — Auburn Adventist Academy (14-5), Forest Ridge (10-6), and Summit Atlas (4-6) — with two tickets to state up for grabs.
Coupeville opens by hosting Monday, November 2.
Friday Harbor squares off with Summit Atlas at 3:30 PM in the CHS gym, with the winner returning to the floor at 5:00 to play the Wolves in another loser-out tilt.
Emerge victorious and Coupeville advances to the double-elimination portion of the tourney and will play on the road from there on out, first at Auburn and then in La Conner.
