“Let’s go back. We need a bigger truck!!”

The streets were hoppin’ Friday.

From Main Street to Front Street, the excitement of Coupeville High School’s third annual Homecoming parade took hold, as floats, royalty and one really big yellow truck took to the streets.

Stationed along the route, camera in hand, was John Fisken, who delivers these photos onto you.

Old age and treachery beats youth and skill every time.

It’s a time-honored saying that once again came true Wednesday night, as the Coupeville High School teachers rallied to beat the Wolf seniors and claim the school’s Homecoming week dodgeball tourney.

Along for the wild ride was Shelli Trumbull, who provides most of the photos above.

You have a cookie? I'm your man. (John Fisken photo)

You have an extra cookie? Forget Canada, THIS is where you take it. (John Fisken photo)

Oh sweet lord, is this what it’s come to? Writing about Homecoming dresses because I’ve been bribed with the promise of baked goods?

I am a weak, weak man…

But I do hold up my end of the bargain, so let’s talk ’bout some dresses!

The clothing in question is being offered free to local girls ages 13-18 and is provided by Soroptimist International of Coupeville.

My Fairy Godmother is a dress loaning program that is providing dresses, shoes, and accessories to girls in need during events such as this weekend’s CHS Homecoming.

The program is also available for Tolo, Prom, middle school dances and non-school events such as weddings.

Donations of cleaned, well-loved dresses, shoes and accessories is greatly appreciated.

Girls and/or their parents interested in being hooked up for Homecoming should call Amy Briscoe at (360) 929-7829 to make arrangements.

For more info, take a look at their Facebook page:

I have a million moms taking photos for me.

The Canadian-owned “local” papers? I think they still have cameras, but you wouldn’t know it by the stunning lack of photos of Coupeville High School’s Homecoming parade and game up on their websites.

Zero. That’s what they have. Zero.

This here is another six, running the score to 43-0.

How bad is your butt hurtin’ after this paddlin’, Canucks?

And now we’re out of here, zippin’ away like senior Allie Hanigan.

Now we’re just running up the score.

As we sit here Sunday night, a full two days since Coupeville High School held its 3rd annual Homecoming parade and the following football game, the “established media” has done diddly and squat.

The Canadian-owned Whidbey News-Times and Whidbey Examiner continue to shirk their civic responsibility and have yet to post a SINGLE PHOTO from either event on their web sites. Not one.

So, I’m tossing up six more, to go with the 31 others we’ve already run.

Cause at least some people around here actually understand we live in a small town and these kind of events are big news in a small town.

Go home, Canada. You’re just embarrassing yourself at this point.
