Have a track meet? Taygin Jump will be there.

The Coupeville grad, now a sophomore at Plattsburgh State in New York, continues to wind her way through the indoor track and field season on the East Coast.

Friday she and her teammates were in Rochester at the Golisano Training Center, taking part in the Nazareth DIII Elite Meet.

Jump was registered in her top event, the weight throw, where she chucked the implement a solid 39 feet, 8.75 inches while competing against a stellar field of 40+ athletes.

Her college PR is 42-6.75.

Plattsburgh’s next meet is set for Friday, Feb. 21 in Canton, when the Cardinals will join the festivities at the SLU Open hosted by St. Lawrence University.

When she’s not busy throwing things, Jump, who competed in track and volleyball during her CHS days, is also pursuing a degree in Environmental Planning & Management/Geology.

Taygin is the oldest of Phil and Christina’s three children, with younger siblings Aleksia and Khanor currently following in their big sister’s athletic footsteps as Wolves.

Taygin Jump

Staten Island is home to more than just a ferry owned by Saturday Night Live stars.

Friday it was also the site of the FastTrack National Invitational, a collegiate track and field meet which drew a large group of competitors.

In the thick of things was Coupeville grad Taygin Jump, another person familiar with ferries from her time on Whidbey.

Now a sophomore at Plattsburgh State, the former Wolf let loose in the weight throw and shot put.

Jump chucked the first implement an even 40 feet, while tossing the second orb a solid 27-3.50.

This is her second indoor track season as a member of Cardinal Nation, following on the heels of her volleyball and track and field exploits at CHS.

When she’s not throwing things, the oldest of Phil and Christina Jump’s three children is pursuing a degree in Environmental Planning & Management/Geology.

She’s the best, by far.

Beating her nearest competitor by more than two-and-a-half feet Tuesday, Coupeville grad Taygin Jump claimed the title in the weight throw at an indoor collegiate event in New York.

The former Wolf ace launched her implement 42 feet, 6.75 feet at the Plattsburgh State Tuesday Track and Field Meet, holding off a field of eight rivals while establishing a new college PR.

Jump, a sophomore studying Environmental Planning & Management/Geology, also finished 9th in the shot put, lobbing it 24-06.25.

Aleksia and Khanor’s older sister was a two-sport star during her CHS days, playing volleyball (both school and club) and track and field.

Tate Wyman

He’s back for a second go-round.

Coupeville grad Tate Wyman kicked off a new season of indoor track and field this past weekend, competing in the Nevada Multi & Invite in Reno.

The former Wolf, now a sophomore at Oregon Tech, set a PR in the 200, hitting the tape in 22.94 seconds, while also ripping off a 9.08 in the 60 hurdles.

The Hustlin’ Owls return to action this next Saturday, Feb. 1 at the Corban Indoor Meet in Salem, Oregon.

During his time at CHS, Wyman was a stellar cross country and track and field athlete, helping to carry the Wolves to a second-place finish in the 4 x 100 relay at the 2023 state meet.

If it’s Saturday, it’s likely a throwing day for Taygin Jump.

The Coupeville grad, now a sophomore at Plattsburgh State in New York, was back at it for the second weekend in a row, competing in the weight throw and shotput.
