It’s kind of his thing to be at the front of the pack.

Coupeville grad Kyle King rampaged once again Sunday, winning the Marine Corps Marathon for the third straight time, and fourth overall.

Competing in the 51st edition of what is now the third-largest marathon in the United States, the former Wolf hit the finish line in a crisp two hours, 17 minutes.

The victory comes on the heels of title-winning trots in 2022, 2024, and 2025.

King, who is an active-duty Marine, was a five-time state track and field champion before graduating from CHS with the Class of 2008.

During his days in the red and black he won the 3200 three straight times while also snagging top honors in the 1600 and as part of a triumphant 4 x 400 relay unit.

After high school, Brianne and Tyler’s brother ran for two NCAA D-I schools – Eastern Washington University and the University of Oklahoma — and competed in the marathon at both the US Olympic Team Trials in Atlanta and the CISM Military World Games in China.

He was also honored as the Marine Corps 2025 Male Athlete of the Year.

The Marine Corps Marathon sends thousands of runners through Arlington and Washington, D.C., starting between the Pentagon and Arlington National Cemetery.

The 26.2-mile course flows past the National Mall and finishes at the Marine Corps War Memorial.

King was joined in the winner’s circle this year by female champ Kaylee Slade and handcycle master Zachary Stinson.
