The Wolves play for a trifecta.

Coupeville High School baseball and softball have clinched Northwest 2B/1B League titles, and girls tennis will try and make it a trio of champs when it hosts Friday Harbor Tuesday, May 10.

That’s one of just three scheduled contests for Wolf teams this coming week, though everything being played has major consequences.

CHS baseball travels to a neutral field in La Conner May 12 to face Friday Harbor in a winner-to-state, loser-out game.

Then, Wolf track and field hosts the District 1 Championships May 14, a precursor to bi-district and state meets.

Meanwhile, the Coupeville athletes with the best win/loss record — the 16-2 softball sluggers — await their own winner-to-state, loser-out game.

That tilt doesn’t arrive until May 21, however.

The Wolves slide into May.

The transition begins.

The week ahead brings an end to the regular season for three of Coupeville High School’s four spring sports teams.

Wolf baseball and softball cap things with a road trip to Darrington Tuesday, May 3, while CHS track begins the postseason trek with a trip to La Conner May 4 for the Northwest 2B/1B League championships.

Both diamond squads will play beyond their Darrington trips, but everything after those games will have a postseason flair.

Meanwhile, the Wolf netters are scheduled to play a home-and-away series with South Whidbey May 3 and 6, respectively.

Tennis will still have one more regular-season match left on the schedule, with a league clash against Friday Harbor set for May 10, before it also begins the postseason journey.

“It’s gonna be May” in just a few days, but first Coupeville High School sports teams have a couple more April games to play.

Wolf baseball and softball each have three games on the schedule this coming week, with a slightly different setup.

The hardball squad hosts Friday Harbor Tuesday, Apr. 26, travels to South Whidbey Apr. 28, then hosts Orcas Island for Senior Night Apr. 29.

Meanwhile, the CHS softball sluggers remain at home, with Friday Harbor visiting Apr. 26.

Orcas arrives Apr. 29, and while it’s also Senior Night, softball plans to play a doubleheader.

The schedule is lighter for Coupeville girls tennis and track, which both have one competition on the schedule.

The Wolf netters kick off the week, hosting Friday Harbor Apr. 25, while the runners, jumpers, and throwers cap things with a trip to Lakewood Apr. 30.

That Saturday event is a shindig known as the Sunny & 70’s Invite.

Another week in the books.

As we pass the midpoint of April, Coupeville High School spring sports teams continue to excel.

Wolf softball and girls tennis teams are on target for conference titles, while baseball is just a game out of first place in the Northwest 2B/1B League.

Meanwhile, CHS track and field athletes continue to throw down top times and distances while hanging out around the oval.

The week ahead gives everyone but the netters a chance to clash with rivals, with softball leading the pack with three contests.

The Wolf sluggers carry a nine-game winning streak into action, with three non-conference tilts against bigger schools.

Coupeville hosts 1A Meridan Wednesday, Apr. 20, travels to 3A Oak Harbor two days later, then caps things Apr. 23 with a home game against 2A Lakewood.

Wolf baseball hosts Concrete for a doubleheader Apr. 19, before travelling to Mount Vernon Christian Apr. 22.

Finally, CHS track is in action on the road, first in Oak Harbor Apr. 20, then at the Eason Invitational in Snohomish Apr. 23.

And now they get back at it.

Coming out of spring break, Coupeville High School spring sports teams pick up steam again with multiple contests this coming week.

Softball tops the field, with four games on the schedule, while every Wolf squad is in action.

The CHS diamond queens travel to Sultan Monday, host Cedar Park Christian-Bothell Wednesday, then close out the week with a doubleheader Friday at La Conner.

Meanwhile, Wolf baseball matches their softball counterparts with matchups against Sultan and La Conner, spending their week entirely on the road.

Coupeville girls tennis and track and field also ride the bus, with the netters traveling to Oak Harbor Wednesday.

After a long break, Wolf runners, jumpers, and throwers assemble in North Kitsap Saturday for the Lil Norway Invite.
