‘Kana is spending her summer on the road.

Playing for the North Sound Lady Titans, a select AAU team based out of Everett, Coupeville High School junior Makana Stone is following the bouncing basketball across the country.

She and her seven teammates, who include Archbishop Thomas Murphy star Megan Wall, have played in recent tournaments in Oregon and Chicago.

Monday they leave for Tennessee for the prestigious Music City Madness Tournament, followed by a trip to California for the 12th annual MSNM Western Championships.

Both tourneys are NCAA certified events.

The Titans feature players from Jackson, Glacier Peak, Snohomish, Marysville-Pilchuck, Kamiak and Bush, in addition to Stone and Wall.

On the team’s website, the players are asked why they joined the select squad. For Stone, there were several reasons.

“I will get more experience with basketball,” she said. “It’s a good chance to be noticed, and I really enjoy basketball.

“I believe playing for this team will be competitive as well as fun.”
