“Dance to the music, my minions!” (Larry Grella cartoon)

The internet is a weird place.

Randomly type in something like, “Bow Down to Cow Town,” and you may find out Coupeville isn’t the only place to embrace said concept.

Oh, it’s true.

Sitting there on SoundCloud, with 160 views, is a rap song with just that name, uploaded two years ago, credited to JMB, featuring JSN.

The main rapper, who hasn’t uploaded anything new in a year, is apparently one Matt Baltazar, and appears to be a teenager or young adult.

It might be my imagination, but he sort of looks like a cross between Pedro from Napoleon Dynamite and former Coupeville hoops star Risen Johnson.

Other than that, there’s not much info out on there on the internet about our music man.

And his song?

It veers a little away from Coupeville, with him rapping in support of an athletic team wearing blue and gold, instead of red and black.

But it does have plenty of rhymes about “suckers and haters” needing to “Bow Down to Cow Town,” so about 95% of its two-minute-plus running time could be lifted and used in support of the Wolves.

On the slim (shady) chance the mysterious JMB stumbles across this story while doing his own internet time-wasting, he should think about a road trip to perform live on Whidbey Island.

Until then, it’s another internet quirk, something you probably didn’t need to be told about, but hey … content.

If nothing else, in the words of our maestro, “If you didn’t know, you do now.”

The song:

Kiara Burdge (John Fisken photo)

There’s no stopping Kiara Burdge.

The former Wolf cheer captain, who graduated with the Coupeville High School Class of 2017, is back in the spotlight (where she deserves to be), after dropping a new song.

Two Simple Words” is actually from 2015, and it’s the first song she wrote, but it just made its internet debut thanks to SoundCloud.

Burdge, who has gone on to write and sing quite a bit more, remembers this first effort fondly, as it lit a fire under her creative side.

“This song has a special place in my heart because it was the first time I realized creating music was a possible outlet for me, and that realization changed my life,” she said.

So, take a listen, and catch an ever-soaring star, so you can say you knew Kiara before the rest of the world caught on to how amazing she is.

Andre Avila’s musical career continues to soar upwards.

The Coupeville High School senior, currently midway through his soccer season, dropped a second hip-hop track on SoundCloud this week.

This time around, the song is called Whippin the Sauce and features support work by fellow CHS basketball players Risen Johnson and JJ Johnson.

It’s a follow-up to Trending, which featured fellow Wolf athlete Valen Trujillo, and hit back in March.

Avila records as Young Dre.

Andre Avila is making his move.

The Coupeville High School senior, who just finished a strong basketball season, has reemerged today with the release of a new song.

Called “Trending,” it features all original work and a beat crafted by Avila, who is working as Young Dre.

His secret weapon?

Wolf junior Valen Trujillo, who, when she’s not smacking winners on the tennis and volleyball court, is quite the accomplished singer.

Avila has meshed her soaring vocals with his own verbal skills behind the mic, and the result, which is now available to listen to on SoundCloud, heralds the rise of a pair of talented musical marvels.
