She’s shining on the big stage.

Coupeville grad Taygin Jump, now a junior at Plattsburgh State, set a PR in the weight throw Friday, earning points for the Cardinals by finishing 7th in a field of 22 competitors.

The former Wolf was competing at the State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) Indoor Track and Field Championships in Brockport, New York.

Jump’s best throw Friday traveled 44 feet, 10.25 inches, besting her previous top mark of 44-09, set just a week ago.

A standout volleyball and track and field athlete during her Cow Town days, Aleksia and Khanor’s big sister is majoring in Environmental Planning & Management at Plattsburgh.

The Cardinals wrap the indoor season with two more postseason meets for qualifiers — the All-Atlantic Region Track and Field Conference Championships and the NCAA D-III Championships — before moving outdoors as the weather warms.

Why wait for the weekend?

Spicing up the early part of the week, Coupeville grad Taygin Jump and her teammates hosted the Plattsburgh State Tuesday Track and Field Meet, the lone home indoor rumble for the Cardinals.

Then the former Wolf went out and was one of the brightest stars of the event.

Jump smashed her PR in the weight throw, launching her implement 44 feet, nine inches, to win the title by a solid seven inches over her nearest competitor.

Her previous best was 44-6.75, set at the SLU Open Feb. 21, 2025.

The Plattsburgh junior also claimed 8th place in the shot put Tuesday, throwing the orb 27-2.75.

When she’s not crushing it in the world of track and field, Aleksia and Khanor’s big sis studies Environmental Planning and Management at the New York-based institution of higher learning.

Saturdays are for throwing.

Coupeville grad Taygin Jump, now a junior at Plattsburgh State in New York, was back at it this weekend, chucking things as a college track and field athlete.

The former Wolf was competing at the Bomber Invitational, hosted by Ithaca College, where she placed 24th out of 47 competitors in the weight throw.

Jump tossed her implement 40 feet, 00.75 inches, while her college PR is 44-6.75.

With the indoor track season hitting full stride, Plattsburgh State has a busy schedule.

Next up for the Cardinals is the Blue and Orange Invitational in Utica, New York next Saturday, Feb. 7.

When she’s not throwing things into the wild blue yonder Jump is majoring in Environmental Planning and Management.

Aleksia and Khanor’s big sis, a standout volleyball and track and field athlete during her CHS days, has been on the Honor Roll during each of her collegiate seasons.

When she chucks things, they stay chucked.

Coupeville grad Taygin Jump, now a junior at Plattsburgh State, was back in action Saturday, competing at the St. Lawrence Invitational in Canton, New York, where she racked up some points for the Cardinals.

The former Wolf placed 12th in the shot put, unleashing a throw of 24 feet, nine inches, but it was the weight throw where she really left her mark.

Jump let fly on a throw of 42-5.25 to claim 2nd place out of a field of 14 competitors, earning eight points for Plattsburgh.

A volleyball and track star back in her CHS days, Aleksia and Khanor’s older sister is majoring in Environmental Planning & Management when not busy as an athlete.

Plattsburgh returns to action next Saturday, Jan. 31 with an appearance at the Bomber Invitational in Ithaca, New York.

Taygin Jump

Let the implements fly.

Coupeville grad Taygin Jump competed on the big stage Friday and Saturday in Brockport, New York, vying at the SUNYAC Indoor Track and Field Championships.

The event brought together the best athletes from the State University of New York Athletic Conference, with Jump repping Plattsburgh State.

Now a sophomore with the Cardinals, the former Wolf ace earned entries in both the weight throw and shotput.

Jump finished 15th in the latter and 16th in the former, with throws of 31 feet, eight inches, and 38-02.25.

The oldest of Phil and Christina’s three children is pursuing a degree in Environmental Planning & Management/Geology when she’s not busy with her track and field exploits.
