The biggest race of the year just got bigger.
The annual Race the Reserve, which brings tons of runners to Central Whidbey and raises funds for that year’s graduating class at Coupeville High School, is entering new territory.
After previously offering a 5K, 10K and half marathon, the event is taking a huge leap forward and adding a full marathon and a marathon relay in 2017.
While full details are still in the works, Deb Smith, the driving force behind the ’17 race, which is set for Aug. 12, is already positively giddy.
“It’s gonna be incredible!!,” she gushed, before departing to take one of her football-playing sons to the hospital for a concussion check-up.
Registration is already open and you can nab an early bird discount if you get your paperwork out of the way before Dec. 31.
