He’s smart and fast.
Coupeville grad Tate Wyman, now a junior studying embedded systems engineering technology at Oregon Tech, had a busy, varied week.
Thursday he was one of 14 Hustlin’ Owl male track and field stars to be tabbed to the U.S. Bank Academic All-Cascade Collegiate Conference team, an honor reserved for student/athletes earning a 3.2 GPA or higher.
Then Saturday Wyman returned to the arena, competing at the Nancy and Norm Berney Classic in Salem, where he picked up 10 points for his team with a 3rd place finish in the 110 hurdles (16.35 seconds) and a 5th in the long jump (21 feet, 5.25 inches).
Oregon Tech held off meet host Corban 148-133 to win the men’s team title.
