She’s still got that magic touch.
Coupeville grad Lyla Stuurmans filled up the stat sheet Friday night, helping spark the Skagit Valley College women’s volleyball squad to a five-set win over host Everett in a key conference rumble.
The Cardinals battled from behind to pull out a 19-25, 25-17, 25-12, 18-25, 15-8 victory, lifting them to 1-1 in Northwest Athletic Conference play, 8-7 overall.
Stuurmans, a former CHS Athlete of the Year who is now a sophomore at SVC, racked up eight kills, 12 digs, a block assist, and 8.5 points against Everett.
On the season she sits with 85 kills, six assists, 14 service aces, 138 digs, five solo blocks, 25 block assists, and 116.5 points for a team which has won three of its last four matches.
Skagit returns to action next Wednesday, September 30, when it hosts Shoreline.
