The hardwood is about to heat up.
Basketball season approaches, with the first day of practice for Coupeville Middle School boys set to tip-off October 26, and games slated to start in less than a month.
Alex Evans and Kassie O’Neil will be on the bench as coaches for the Wolves, who play an eight-game schedule against Cascade League foes.
It’s a rather extreme schedule as schedules go, with three straight home clashes to begin, followed by four straight trips on the bus, then a home finale against next-door rival South Whidbey.
On Tuesdays, Level 1 (varsity) will play first, followed by 2 and 3, while on Wednesday or Thursday it goes in reverse, with a 3-2-1 layout.
The CMS girls take the floor after the boys, with their season beginning in late January, so we’ll stash their schedule away for now and circle back to discuss that later.
For now, here’s the plan for the Wolf boys:
Tue-Nov. 10 — Sultan (3:15)
Thur-Nov. 12 — King’s (3:15)
Tues-Nov. 17 — Northshore Christian Academy (3:15)
Thur-Nov. 19 — @ Granite Falls (3:15)
Tue-Dec. 1 — @ South Whidbey (3:30)
Wed-Dec. 2 — @ Lakewood (3:15)
Tue-Dec. 8 — @ Sultan (3:15)
Tue-Dec. 15 — South Whidbey (3:15)
