Time to pack up the equipment and leave the gridiron behind for another season.
A Coupeville High School football squad with a lot of young players in key positions fell 62-0 Friday on Friday Harbor to a senior-heavy Wolverines team.
The loss drops the Wolves to a final mark of 1-6 on the campaign, with a second-straight win against South Whidbey in The Battle for the Bucket the highlight of the season.
Friday Harbor, which swept the season series from its Northwest 2B/1B League rival, is 6-2 (if you count a forfeit by Toutle Lake) and heads to the playoffs.

Coupeville graduates eight seniors — Riley Lawless, Jackson Waterbury, Gabe Smith, Keegan Ramos-Kalwies, Davin Houston, Drew Majestic, Nikolas Rogers, and Chance Hart.
But Bennett Richter and his coaching staff can return four of the five players who scored a touchdown this season, while starting quarterback Kamden Ratcliff was just a freshman.
Overall, 17 of the 25 players on the Wolf roster are eligible to be back on the field in 2027.
