What in the world did Grey Rische have for breakfast?

Whatever the Coupeville High School sophomore ingested Monday, it fueled him up big time.

By the time he was done rampaging through the Olympic League JV track and field championships at North Mason High School, Rische had set three PRs — including busting his best mark in the javelin by a jaw-dropping nine feet — and captured one of four victories by Wolf athletes.

Equally impressive were freshman Jesse Hester, who ran away with titles in both the 110 and 300 hurdles and sophomore Alexxis Otto, who claimed top honors in the shot put.

Her throw went more than three feet further than her previous best.

In a field of 10 schools, Coupeville finished 6th in the boys team standings and 7th on the girls side. 2A schools North Kitsap (boys) and North Mason (girls) took the team titles.

It was a day for dominance, in many different ways.

Makana Stone and Dalton Martin were all about the wins, while Alexxis Otto carried the banner when it came to setting PRs Thursday as the Coupeville High School track squad competed at a five-team meet in Port Townsend.

Stone zipped to victories in the 200 and 400, then made it three-for-three by running a leg on a winning 4 x 200 relay squad that included Marisa Etzell, Lauren Grove and Kirsten Pelroy.

While she was running wild, Martin was throwin’ like a boss, taking top honors in both the shot put (where he set a PR) and discus.

While the five wins were the big story on the day, the 17 PR’s set by the Wolves (10 for the girls, seven for the boys) were just as impressive.

Otto paced Coupeville, smashing her own records in all three of her events (shot put, discus, javelin).

Lauren Bayne, Delaney Armstrong and Kenny Johnson set PRs in two events apiece.

The meet, the next-to-last of the regular season, brought league rivals Coupeville and Port Townsend together with 2A schools Olympic and North Mason and 1B Crescent.
