All they do is win.

The Deception FC G14 girls’ soccer squad, which combines players from Coupeville, Oak Harbor, and South Whidbey, made it two titles in a row Monday.

Sweeping through the 2025 Copa Surf tournament at the Starfire Sports complex in Tukwila, the Islanders capped a four-game win streak with a 3-0 victory in the championship rumble.

That followed on the heels of 7-0, 7-2, and 5-1 victories over the weekend.

The Copa Surf title comes a week after Whidbey’s best swept to a tourney win at the Washington Youth Soccer Founders Cup.

Deception FC is coached by Will Tellez, Jerry Helm, and Matthew Hutchinson.

The four Coupeville girls who star for the squad are Elaina Grose, Lilly Hestbeck, Scotlyn Helm, and Lucy Youderian.

Coupeville’s mega-watt booters continue to shine brightly on the big stage.

The Deception FC girls’ G14 team, which features four Cow Town stars, finished atop the North Puget Sound League Division 1, and did so in convincing fashion.

The squad went 9-1-2, while rattling the net for 42 goals while surrendering just 10 scores.

No other team in their six-squad conference scored more than 18 goals, and Deception FC’s +32 rating towered over the second-place team’s +8 mark.

The Wolves are on the prowl, conquering one soccer pitch after another.

Four young Coupeville booters were shining brightly in Tukwila alongside their teammates with Deception FC.

Sparked by Lucy Youderian, Elaina Grose, Scotlyn Helm, and Lilly Hestbeck, the GU11 squad wrapped up play Monday at the Surf Invitational in Tukwila with a second-place finish in its class.

Coming off stellar play at the Rush Cup earlier this month, Deception FC received a special invitation from the Surf Invitational director.

“I wear #1, because I am #1, skippy!”

Two Whidbey teams made the trek off-Island, with both of them reaching the final.

Of course, the one featuring Coupeville athletes, led by coaches Will Tellez and Matthew Hutchinson, is the one which gets the biggest buzz in a blog called … Coupeville Sports.

For the other Deception FC players, it’s time to convince your parents to move to Cow Town, is all I’m sayin’…

Anyways, the trip to Tukwila was a boon for all involved, said proud Wolf Mom (and CHS girls’ soccer head coach) Kimberly Kisch.

“We were so excited to have the opportunity to compete at this skill level,” she said. “No matter the outcome, the experience was invaluable.”

Along with the games on the field, the girls also got to watch the pros at work, viewing a scrimmage between the Seattle Reign and Portland Thorns.

Summertime is for soccer.

Three Coupeville girls are staying busy during the vacation months, running the pitch for the U12 Deception FC out of the North Whidbey Soccer Club.

Taylor Marrs and Lillian Ketterling are headed into 6th grade at Coupeville Middle School, while Tamsin Ward will be a 5th grader at the town’s elementary school.

The trio have three tournaments on their summer schedule, with the season rolling into the fall.

The summer finale is at the Starfire Extreme Cup in mid-August.

Taylor Marrs, who is following in the soccer footsteps of older sister Lauren, a standout goalie headed into her sophomore campaign at Oak Harbor High School, is in her second season.

Ward and Ketterling are both making their debuts this year for Deception FC, which is coached by Miko Delafield and Brian Marrs.
