“I have been so lucky to meet these wonderful people and be a part of this team.”

Spirit ace Jayden Cooks captured the feelings of her fellow cheerleaders and Coupeville High School girls’ basketball stars as they joined together to celebrate Senior Night Friday.

They thanked their parents, their coaches, and, maybe most of all, their teammates, for being supportive as the journey has unfolded.

“You have all become my very close friends over the years,” said hardwood hero Kayla Arnold.

“You guys are the most incredible teammates I could ever want, and I’m so glad I’ve had a chance to play with all of you.”

They’re trending upward.

Coupeville High School cheerleaders invaded Bothell Saturday for the Spirit of Northshore meet and improved their scores in all categories from their previous event.

“We are so proud of our entire squad who showed up today and gave it their all,” said CHS cheer coach Jennifer Morrell.

“I want to thank my team for always being like a second family to me.

“They have always brightened my day with all their goofy shenanigans and squirrely behavior.”

As she bowed out Thursday, Coupeville High School cheer captain Hayley Thomas spoke for many of her fellow seniors.

Family was a recurring theme as the Wolf 12th graders (and band member Sienna Peabody) were honored for their contributions.

As they put in one more night on the CHS sideline, Coupeville’s seniors marinated in the moment.

“I will forever cherish the time I’ve spent with this beautiful group of people,” Isabella Schooley said.

“And I will never forget the wonderful moments that have made this experience so rewarding.”
