It was a split decision.

Back on the hardwood for the first time in two weeks, Coupeville grad Makana Stone was on fire Wednesday, filling up the stat sheet.

Unfortunately, the one-woman wrecking crew couldn’t carry her Norwegian pro hoops team to a victory all by herself.

Stone recorded her seventh double-double of the season, topping all players with 21 points and 19 rebounds, but Asker held off Baerum 78-53.

The loss tightens up the race for second place in the seven-team Kvinneligaen, with everyone chasing undefeated Ulriken, which sits at 12-0.

Baerum and Stone drop to 8-3 and retain a half-game lead over Asker (8-4), with Storm Ungdom (0-11) next up for the former Wolf ace and her teammates.

That game isn’t until Jan. 14, though, as the holiday season continues to feature big breaks.

Stone and her associates have 13 games remaining on a 24-game regular season schedule which runs through late March.

Wednesday’s tilt was the first time Baerum had seen action since Dec. 20, and the game slipped away after a tense first quarter.

Up just 14-13 at the first break, Asker used an 18-6 run in the second frame to open things up, before closing with 22-18 and 24-16 tears across the final two quarters of action.

Stone, who has topped double digit scoring in all 11 of her games in Norway, added five assists, four steals, and two blocked shots.

On the season, she has 210 points, 133 rebounds, 23 assists, 33 steals, and eight blocks.

Stone is in her second season of cashin’ checks for drainin’ jumpers, having played for Leicester in England as a rookie.

The time off didn’t dull her game.

Playing for the first time in 17 days, Coupeville grad Makana Stone threw down a double-double Tuesday, lifting her Norwegian pro basketball team to a resounding win.

Baerum went up early on Ullern, then never let its foes back in the game, romping to a 60-47 victory.

With the victory, Stone and Co. get to 8-2 on the season, and sit solidly in second place in the seven-team Kvinneligaen.

Baerum jumped out to a 20-10 lead at the end of the first quarter Tuesday, before stretching the lead to 32-20 by halftime.

Ullern staged its one semi-comeback in the third frame, using a 16-12 run to cut the margin back to single digits, but Stone and associates closed the game with a 16-11 surge in the fourth quarter.

The former Coupeville standout filled up the stat sheet, banking in 20 points, snatching 10 rebounds, doling out four assists, pilfering seven steals, and recording two blocked shots.

Along the way, Stone rippled the nets for a trio of three-balls, her season-best performance from behind the arc.

Baerum teammate Abbey Hoff provided able support, knocking down six treys of her own en route to a game-high 24 points.

Stone, who is in her second season of pro ball after playing in England as a rookie, has rung up 189 points, 114 rebounds, 18 assists, 29 steals, and six blocks through her first 10 games in Norway.

Fresh off the win, Baerum will go right back into another winter break, not playing again until Jan. 4, when it squares off with Asker.

The second half belonged to them.

Down by five at the break, Baerum and its American star, Coupeville progeny Makana Stone, rallied for a win on the hardwood Saturday in Oslo.

Knocking off Ullern 66-54, the Norwegian pro hoops squad improves to 7-2 on the season, locking down sole possession of second place in the seven-team Kvinneligaen.

Baerum, which is off now until Dec. 20, when it has a rematch with Ullern, trails just undefeated Ulriken (11-0) in the standings.

Saturday’s game was a bit of an uphill battle however, as Stone and Co. had to rally.

Ullern shot out to a 17-12 lead after one quarter of play, before holding on to carry a 31-26 advantage into the halftime locker room.

The second half was Baerum’s turn to shine, though, as it surged across the final two quarters of play.

A 16-11 run in the third knotted things up at 42-42, before Stone and her compatriots pulled away, banking home 24 points during a furious final frame.

The former Wolf stuffed the stat sheet Saturday, racking up 15 points, eight rebounds, five assists, and six steals.

The assist and steal totals are Stone’s best single-game marks while playing in the Kvinneligaen.

Her fellow countrywoman, Julie McCarthy, powered up for 17 points and 17 rebounds, as the American duo continue to pace Baerum.

Ullern gunner Malin Bjornsen led all scorers with 22 points, but it wasn’t enough to save her team, which slid to 3-6 on the year.

Stone has racked up an impressive set of stats in her second season of pro ball, with 169 points, 104 rebounds, 14 assists, 22 steals, and four blocks through her first nine games.

She had a very good weekend.

Coupeville High School grad Makana Stone put up back-to-back strong performances in snowy Norway the past two days, sparking her pro hoops team to a sweep of its two games.

Sunday, the former Wolf poured in a game-high 19 points and snatched 11 boards to spark Baerum to a 63-58 win over Midtbyen.

The victory, coming less than 24 hours after a big triumph against Storm Ungdom, lifts Stone and Co. to 6-2 on the season.

Baerum sits in second place in the seven-team Kvinneligaen, a game up on Asker (5-3), as everyone chases undefeated Ulriken (10-0).

Stone, who also picked up two assists, a steal, and a blocked shot in Sunday’s win, scored from every angle.

Coupeville’s progeny netted six field goals, added a three-ball from deep, then topped things off with four made free throws.

Sparked by its North American import, Baerum jumped out to a 25-18 lead after one quarter of play, before Midtbyen rallied a bit.

The lead was sliced down to 34-32 at the half, before Stone and her teammates pulled back away with a 17-10 run across the third period.

Abbey Hoff knocked down 12 points for Baerum, while Shiba Ahmadi banked in 10 to give the squad three players in double-digits.

On the season Stone has put up stellar numbers, compiling 154 points, 96 rebounds, nine assists, 16 steals, and four blocked shots.

She has recorded double figure scoring in every game this season, topping out with 33 points against Asker in a game in late October.

After the back-to-back weekend bouts, Baerum is off for several days, returning to action Saturday, Dec. 3 against Ullern, which currently sits at 3-4 on the season.

It was a big bounce back.

Playing six days after taking a rare loss, Baerum and its American assassin, Makana Stone, unloaded on a hapless foe Saturday in Norway.

With Coupeville’s progeny going off for 15 points, 11 rebounds, and three steals, she and her teammates pounded winless Storm Ungdom 81-28 in a professional basketball bout.

The victory lifts Baerum to 5-2 on the season and keeps the squad in sole possession of second place in the seven-team Kvinneligaen.

Stone and Co., who trail just Ulriken (9-0) in the league standings, get right back at it Sunday with a game against Midtbyen (4-4).

Baerum spread out its offense Saturday, with four players netting double-digits scoring totals.

Abbey Hoff and Julie McCarthy banked in 17 points apiece, with Stone, who sank a three-ball as part of her effort, and Camilla Gjerstad both tallying 15.

On the season, Stone has racked up a team-best 135 points, 85 rebounds, seven assists, 15 steals, and three blocked shots.

This is the second season of pro ball for the former Wolf ace, who played in England as a rookie.
