Team captain Aram Leyva will lead his squad into its first true home playoff game in many years Monday night.

No need to drive very far this time.

In recent years, when Coupeville High School soccer squads earned home playoff games, they still had to trek 10 miles to Oak Harbor’s stadium, then adjust on the fly to a different playing surface.

But now that the Wolves are back in District 1, the requirement for early-round postseason battles to be played on turf no longer exists.

That means when CHS opens its playoff run Monday, Apr. 29, it will start on the green, green grass of its own Mickey Clark Field.

The opponent is win-less Cedar Park Christian, kickoff is 6 PM, it’s a loser-out game, and yes, you have to pay admission, unlike the regular season.

A breakdown of what you need to know as the district tourney kicks off:

What:

1A District 1 boys soccer tournament, featuring the top five North Sound Conference teams against the top three Northwest Conference squads.

When:

Apr. 29-May. 4

Where:

Multiple locations.

Coupeville opens at home, but a win there sends the Wolves on the road for games at still-to-be-determined locations May 1 and 4.

What’s at stake:

Five of eight teams at districts advance to bi-districts, which pits District 1 against District 2.

Three of nine teams at that tourney punch their ticket to state.

Admission for individual district playoff games:

Adults and students without ASB — $7.00
Students with ASB, children and seniors — $5.00
Preschool children (with paying adult) – Free

Two wins from Richland.

That’s where the Coupeville High School softball team finds itself, as it preps for this weekend’s four-team, double-elimination district tourney.

Capture two victories without taking two losses, and the Wolves punch their ticket to the state tourney, earning a trip back to Eastern Washington.

The last time CHS softball went to the big dance was 2014, in David King’s final season as coach.

Now, after coming within a single strike of getting there last season, the Wolves are back to make another run under Kevin McGranahan, and with a little better set-up than a year ago.

Then, they faced a loser-out game in the first round, had to play game two mere seconds after game one finished and were on the diamond for four games in less than 24 hours.

This time around, Coupeville is guaranteed two games (and a decent break in the middle) Friday, and will only play one game, if any, Saturday.

A look at all the pertinent details:

So, you’re saying we have a chance?

Yes, yes, I am.

Flying high at 12-2, with its most wins in a season since 2004, the Coupeville High School volleyball squad sits one win away from advancing to state for the first time since this year’s seniors were in kindergarten.

To make that dream come true, the Wolves need one win in two matches Saturday at the district tourney in Tacoma.

Action kicks off at 11 AM at Charles Wright Academy, with Coupeville playing Bellevue Christian.

That’s a rematch of an early-season tussle, where the Vikings gave the Wolves their only loss this season against a 1A school.

Get revenge, and Coupeville is state-bound, after first returning to the same court at 5 PM for the district title game, which will decide seeding.

Lose the opener, and not all hope is gone, as the Wolves would hit the court at 3 PM in a loser-out, winner-to-state third-place battle royal.

Their foe would be the loser of a 1 PM match-up between tourney host Charles Wright and Cascade Christian.

Unlike last year, when Coupeville hosted the district tourney and action unspooled on two separate courts, CWA only has one court.

As you count down the hours until Volleyball-ageddon ’17 (while chewing your fingernails to a nub), here’s some info to occupy your brain cells.

What: West Central District 3 volleyball playoffs.

When: Saturday, Nov. 4

Where: Charles Wright Academy in Tacoma (7723 Chambers Creek Road W.)

Admission (good for all day):

$8 Adults/Non-ASB
$5 Students with ASB
$5 Sr. Citizens (62+)
$4 Elementary
