Close the book and count the stats.

While the varsity plays on, the Coupeville High School JV volleyball squad capped its season Monday with a straight-sets victory over visiting Sultan.

That sent the Wolves to the locker room riding a 10-match winning streak and boasting a final record of 12-1.

Haylee Armstrong protects the floor at all costs.

Along the way, the young spikers piled up an impressive set of stats, which we have below.

It’s stat reviewing time.

We’re four matches into the season for the Coupeville High School volleyball squads, with the numbers starting to shake out.

As you take a look at the kills, assists, and other stats racked up by the Wolf spikers, two things to keep in mind.

One, the numbers are for regular season clashes, and don’t include the varsity’s trip to the Yakima SunDome Invitational or the season-opening jamboree in Oak Harbor.

And two, while the numbers come from Wolf coaches, I did add them up, so let’s hope — for my sake, at least — that I got ’em right.

If not, I’m sure I’ll hear about it soon enough…

Anyways. On to the numbers.

Wolf sophomore Davin Houston scored his first touchdown of the season Saturday. (Bailey Thule photo)

Three games down, six left to play in the regular season.

Coming off a loss to Granite Falls Saturday, in a game where it played without several key players, the Coupeville High School football squad sits at 2-1 in non-conference play.

Up next for the 2B Wolves is a road trip to Kirkland this Saturday, Sept. 28 for a fourth-straight clash with a 1A school, with Cedar Park Christian-Bothell waiting at Juanita High School’s field.

After that, Coupeville gets two in a row, and three of its next four games, at home, starting with a Northwest 2B/1B League tilt with Friday Harbor for Homecoming.

While I don’t have defensive stats, I do have scoring numbers, and here’s where the Wolves currently sit:

Touchdowns:

Chase Anderson – 5
Marquette Cunningham – 2
Johnny Porter – 2
Davin Houston — 1
Jack Porter – 1

Conversions:

Anderson — 1
Liam Blas — 1
Cunningham – 1

PATs:

Anderson — 4

Points:

Anderson — 36
Cunningham — 14
Jo. Porter — 12
Houston — 6
Ja. Porter – 6
Blas — 2
