throwin' down

Still quite capable of throwin’ down, however.

The look of Wolf volleyball is an ever-changing one.

When the Coupeville High School spikers kick off the season at home Sept. 8 against Island rival South Whidbey, they’ll be playing in a gym that boasts new state-of-the-art bleachers.

And, they’ll be wearing new duds.

In the photos above, the Wolves debut their new look, which features black uniforms for home matches and white ones for road trips.

And, if you’re wondering, the players pictured in the first photo start with sophomore Hope Lodell (2) in the middle.

Going front to the back on the left: Lauren Rose, Jae LeVine, Valen Trujillo, Kyla Briscoe, Maddy Hilkey, Sydney Autio and Tiffany Briscoe.

The Wolves are on the hunt in Bellingham.

A team volleyball camp at Western Washington University drew a pack of CHS players, and several moms showed up to snap photos of their daughters at play.

With apologies to anyone who might have wandered off and not shown up in the team photo, at least 12 Wolves made the trek.

Incoming freshmen Emma Smith, Maddy Hilkey, Ashley Menges and Sarah Wright joined returning players Katrina McGranahan, Kenzi LaRue, Valen Trujillo, Kyla Briscoe, Allison Wenzel, McKenzie Bailey, Maggie Crimmins and Tiffany Briscoe.

And layin’ it down, with authority.

You thought we were done?

Dang skippy, you don’t know me very well.

Having successfully goaded travelin’ photo man John Fisken into wandering down to Cow Town, I was blessed with a smorgasbord of snappy pics from the volleyball camp CHS players and coaches hosted this week.

Not wanting to overload your eyeballs, I split the photos in two groups and ran the first part yesterday.

Today, with your peepers fully rested, I deliver unto you the second batch of Fisken photo goodness.

You’re welcome.

Super-powered hugs and then she collects all the loose balls? Kayla Rose, the real MVP.

It’s never too early to let the spikes rain down.

A new high school volleyball season is still months away, but that didn’t stop Wolf players and coaches from taking the court Thursday.

They were in the CHS and CMS gyms to kick-off a three-day skills camp for younger players.

The camp, which runs through Saturday, is open to boys and girls in grades 3-8 and gives the current Wolf spikers a chance to train those who will one day follow them onto the court.

Plus, it also gives them a chance to pose for John Fisken’s camera.

So, win-win.
