Stop me if you’ve heard this story before.
Take Makana Stone, give her a basketball, and great things happen.
Yep, the Coupeville grad, coming off another standout performance Saturday in England, is once again the … focus … of FocusHoops writers.
After narrowly missing a triple double for the second-straight week, Stone has again landed on the Women’s National Basketball League Team of the Week.
The former Wolf went off for a team-high 14 points, while adding a game-best 11 rebounds and eight steals Saturday, sparking Loughborough University to a crucial 73-60 win over Cardiff Met.
With the victory, the Riders sit at 11-4 (or 11-2 with Stone in the lineup) and hold on to second-place in the 10-team league, trailing defending champ Ipswich, who they meet this weekend.
The first time the NBL’s top two teams clashed, Coupeville’s progeny banked in the game-winner to propel Loughborough to an upset win.
Stone has been tabbed to the Team of the Week eight times during her debut British campaign, winning Player of the Week three times.
