Keep fighting, keep swinging for kills.
Medaille College volleyball and Chelsea Prescott, its Coupeville-raised star, didn’t have an easy task Tuesday, but the Mavericks proved to be reliably scrappy.
Facing the top team in the nine-school Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference, Medaille eventually fell 25-18, 25-18, 25-14 to host Penn State Behrend, but not before pushing their rivals hard on their Senior Night.
The loss drops the Mavericks to 1-6 in league play, 4-16 overall, while PSB jumps to 7-0, 19-5.
Things should be easier next time out for Medaille, which closes the regular season Saturday, Oct. 30, at the University of Pittsburgh at Greensburg (1-5, 2-19).
Tuesday night in Erie, Pennsylvania, Prescott racked up two kills, three digs, a block assist, and 2.5 points of offense.
Halle Bogas (10 kills), Haley Kennedy (18 assists), and Baylee Romano (12 digs) paced the Mavericks, while Kristin Reiland (nine kills, 12 digs) topped Penn State.
On the season, Prescott has started in all 20 matches, played all 65 sets, and recorded 106 kills, 157 digs, 22 aces, 12 assists, two solo blocks, 11 block assists, and 135.5 points.
