Whatcom is using a Light to lead the way.
Ember Light, that is.
The Coupeville High School grad has been tabbed as a captain for the revived Whatcom College cheer squad as it heads into the fall.
The Orcas currently have a seven-woman squad, with another round of tryouts set for the first week of September.
Light is one of two former Wolves on the Whatcom cheer squad, with Pamela Morrell also on the WCC team.
During her days in Cow Town, Light was a top student and athlete, also competing in tennis to go with her spirit team duties.
She’s pursuing an allied health degree at Whatcom, with plans to move onto radiology school.
