Regroup and get ready for the playoffs.

That’s the mission for the Baerum women’s basketball squad, which saw its eight-game winning streak busted Sunday in the regular-season finale.

Despite a 19-point, 11-rebound performance from Coupeville grad Makana Stone, the Norwegian pro hoopers fell 74-60 to always-tough Asker.

With the loss, Baerum finishes the regular season at 18-6 and in second place in the seven-team Kvinneligaen.

Asker is 17-7, while Ulriken, sitting at 23-1 — with its only loss coming to Stone and Co. — claims the regular season title.

Baerum jumped out to a 20-16 lead Sunday, but struggled in the second quarter and fell behind after its rivals went on a 21-8 run.

Stone and her associates narrowed the gap back to 55-51 heading into the fourth quarter, but Asker hit its shots down the stretch to hold on for the win.

Coupeville’s progeny, who is in her second season of pro ball after playing in England as a rookie, tops Baerum with 431 points.

Stone has also collected 269 rebounds, 57 assists, 59 steals, and 11 blocked shots while playing in 23 of her team’s 24 games.

No undefeated season for you!

Sparked by their Coupeville hoops prodigy, Baerum shocked previously flawless Ulriken Sunday in Norwegian professional basketball action.

With former Wolf ace Makana Stone going off for 16 points and 11 rebounds, she and her teammates held on for a 58-48 win.

The victory, the eighth-straight for Baerum, lifts it to 18-5 with one regular season game left to play, while Ulriken falls to 21-1.

Stone and Co. face off with Asker (16-7) Sunday, Mar. 26, then head to the playoffs.

While Ulriken had already clinched the best regular season record of any of the seven teams playing in the Kvinneligaen, Sunday’s win was a huge shot across the bow with the postseason fast approaching.

Baerum, which had pushed the league leaders hard in previous meetings this season, led from start to finish, outscoring its foe in every frame.

Stone and her running mates jumped out to a narrow 10-8 lead at the first break, then stretched the lead to 23-19 by the half.

The third quarter was the highest-scoring frame of the game, with Baerum using a 19-16 run to carry a 42-35 advantage into the fourth.

Stone doled out four assists and made off with a steal to go with her 16 and 11 double-double, while fellow American assassin Abbey Hoff topped all scorers with 21 points.

The pride of Coupeville has racked up 412 points, 258 rebounds, 56 assists, 58 steals, and 11 blocked shots in her second season of playing professional basketball.

Warmups out of the way, and it’s on to the main event.

Makana Stone and the Baerum women’s pro basketball squad utterly destroyed Bergen Saturday in Norway, setting up a meeting Sunday with the undefeated league leaders.

The former Coupeville ace, who missed her team’s previous game with the flu, returned to the court to deliver a 14-point, 10-rebound performance Saturday, sparking Baerum to a 100-25 rout.

The team’s seventh-straight victory, if lifts Stone and Co. to 17-5 heading into Sunday’s royal rumble against Ulriken, which sits at 21-0.

Baerum wraps the regular season Mar. 26 with a game against Asker (16-7).

Saturday’s game tilted in favor of Stone and her running mates from the early going, as they scored the game’s first 10 points.

Up 23-7 by the first break, Baerum stretched the lead out to 39-11 at the half, then went on a torrid 31-1 tear across the third quarter.

Stone added two assists and two steals to her 14/10 double-double, while teammate Julie McCarthy matched Bergen by herself, pouring in a game-high 25 points.

On the season Andre Stone’s lil sis has racked up 396 points, 247 rebounds, 52 assists, 57 steals, and 11 blocks.

The #3 scorer in CHS basketball history, Makana Stone is in her second season of pro hoops, having played in England as a rookie.

Only score that matters is the final score.

Closing the game on a 25-9 fourth quarter run Sunday, Coupeville grad Makana Stone and her Norwegian pro basketball teammates captured their fifth-straight victory.

Trailing by double-digits in the first half, Baerum ralllied behind its American assassin to knock off Bergen 58-47, running its season record to 15-5.

Stone and Co., who return to the court Mar. 11 to face Midtbyen (7-14), sit in second place in the seven-team Kvinneligaen, a half-game up on Asker (15-6).

Unbeaten Ulriken (19-0) remains in control as the regular season winds down.

Baerum got off to a rare cold start Sunday, falling behind 22-10 at the first break, before chip, chip, chippin’ away at the deficit.

A 9-7 mini-surge in the second quarter got Bergen’s lead down to 29-19, before Baerum narrowed things down to 38-33 heading into the final frame.

Stone was on point all game, dropping in a game-high 23 points, including hitting a career-best four three-balls.

The former Wolf ace also snagged nine rebounds, handed out three assists, and made off with four steals to keep the statisticians busy.

Baerum teammates Julie McCarthy (11 points, 11 rebounds) and Abbey Hoff (10 points) were able assistants for Stone in the win.

On the season, Eileen and Josh Stone’s daughter has racked up 382 points, 237 rebounds, 50 assists, 55 steals, and 11 blocks.
