Join the club.

The Coupeville Booster Club that is.

As we head towards the end of the calendar year, this is the perfect time to become a Wolf supporter by joining up during the club’s annual membership drive.

Do so, and you can be part of the inner circle and help keep local athletics thriving.

And what does the Booster Club do, you ask? Well…

The boosters are the backbone of Wolf sports, making life easier for coaches, athletes, and admins.

The group annually awards eight $1,000 scholarships to graduating seniors, while also providing a yearly stipend to high school and middle school sports programs.

The boosters also provide roses for Senior Night festivities, varsity letters for Wolf athletes, meal money and goodie bags for road trips, and numerous team improvement items.

These have ranged from literature and DVDs to tarps, weight room equipment, batting cages, upgrades to school athletic fields and facilities, and t-shirts for cancer awareness nights.

Plus, the Wall of Fame in the CHS gym, which documents accomplishments from 100+ years of Coupeville athletics?

It wouldn’t exist without the support of the boosters, who provided the biggest financial contribution to its development, and continue to handle updates.

They hit the bonanza.

With a big boost from the community, the Coupeville High School Booster Club set a record at this year’s fundraiser dinner, bringing in $42,000 to support Wolf athletics.

Fine dining for a fine cause.

CHS student athletes spoke to the crowd at the benefit Saturday, detailing what the club has provided them, with Wolf boys’ hardwood guru Brad Sherman adding a coach’s perspective.

All in all, the event was a huge hit, said Booster Club bigwig (and Coupeville alumni) Danette Beckley.

“The energy was high, and folks were so generous,” she said.

Wolf athletes handled kitchen duties.

Along with a catered dinner, the night included live and silent auctions, with vacations in places as diverse as Maui and Lake Chelan being offered, in addition to the always popular “Pork Palooza for Eight” and a “Wheelbarrow of Booze.”

Plus, a ton of delectable desserts were up for grabs.

Just a small portion of the tasty treats.

The Booster Club would like to thank a wide variety of people and businesses who helped make the night a hit:

The countdown has begun.

The years biggest shindig is set for Saturday, Nov. 8, when the Coupeville Booster Club hosts its annual dinner and auction extravaganza.

All the info you need can be found in the photo above.

And why support the Booster Club? Well, as I wrote once or twice before:

The community stepped up big time in its support of its athletes.

The annual Coupeville Booster Club fundraiser dinner and auction snagged $26,000 this past weekend.

“I’m so humbled by the generosity of the community giving to our kids,” said Booster Club board member Danette Beckley.

The event was a true labor of love, with Beckley, Michelle Armstrong, and Jess Lucero leading the booster club side of things.

Current Wolf athletes, both at the middle and high school level, volunteered their time to work during the dinner as well.

Serendipity Catering provided the food, while community members donated sweet treats for the always-popular dessert auction.

There was also a silent auction, and a live one, with trips to Chelan and Maui, a Seahawk gift package (including game tickets), a “Pork-A-Palooza” event for eight, and a “Wheelbarrow of Booze” perfect for parties among the items up for grabs.

The battle to support music education in Coupeville continues.

In the wake of the school district cutting its secondary program during the last round of budget discussions, a group of locals has come to together in the hope of launching a booster club.

The plan is to meet the first Wednesday of each month, with a meeting set for Nov. 6 at the Coupeville Library.

For more info, pop up and take a gander at the photo above these words.

And if you have any questions, suggestions, or offer of help, you can reach Emily Zenz at save.coupeville.music@gmail.com.
