Coupeville Middle School cross country coach Amber Wyman sent 21 runners to the line Saturday at the 47th annual Carl Westling Invite in Langley, with five Wolves claiming top 10 performances.
Rising star Juniper Dotson earned top honors for CMS, as the 7th grader finished 5th in the girls’ race, while 8th grader Colton Ashby hit the tape 7th in the boy’s race.
Host South Whidbey collected both individual crowns, with Kaylin Gutzmer and Emery Kline helping their teams finish atop the team standings as well.
Coupeville was second overall in the boys’ battle, and third in the girl’s competition.

Seven teams competed in the middle school rumble, with harriers covering 3,000 meters across a course which was tweaked from years past due to ongoing construction at South Whidbey High School.
The Wolves hit the trail again next week, traveling to Sultan Friday, September 25 for the Return of the Salmon Invitational.
