Color me confused.

MaxPreps wants to be the go-to place for stats and scores for high school sports (they even made a deal with the WIAA to provide basketball rankings come playoff time) and yet they remain kind of shoddy at the whole thing.

Case in point: trying to go through their soccer stats and scores.

As it stands, MaxPreps currently lists Coupeville’s 4-1 win over North Mason twice, gives Wolf freshman Megan Thorn four goals (spoiler: she hasn’t scored yet) and can’t seem to match its goaltender stats.

CHS senior net-minder Lauren Grove is listed with 57 saves on Coupeville’s personal stat page, and yet appears nowhere on the state leader board, even though that number should put her 20 ahead of anyone else.

So, with all of that in mind, and the caveat that there are a bunch of schools who simply haven’t reported a single stat to the “official clearing house,” here’s how the Wolves (6-4-1) stack up with five regular-season games to play.

Goals:

Mia Littlejohn 21 (#1 in state)
Kalia Littlejohn 7 (tied for #10 in 1A)
Lindsey Roberts 2
Tia Wurzrainer 2
Bree Daigneault 1
Avalon Renninger 1
May Rose 1

Assists:

Sage Renninger 9 (tied for #1 in 1A, #8 in state)
M. Littlejohn 4 (tied for #18 in 1A)
Lauren Bayne 1
Daigneault 1
K. Littlejohn 1
Roberts 1
Wurzrainer 1

Points:

M. Littlejohn 46 (#2 in 1A, #3 in state)
K. Littlejohn 15 (tied for #15 in 1A)
S. Renninger 9
Roberts 5
Wurzrainer 5
Daigneault 3
A. Renninger 2
Rose 2
Bayne 1

Saves in goal:

Lauren Grove 57 (#1 in state?)

Tia Wurzrainer

Fab frosh Tia Wurzrainer recently moved up front, and it paid off against the Cowboys, as she tallied her first two high school goals.

One record tied, another broken.

Raining down destruction on host Chimacum from every angle Tuesday, the Coupeville High School girls’ soccer squad romped to a 7-2 win.

The victory, spurred by a momentous night from Mia Littlejohn, lifts the Wolves to 4-1 in 1A Olympic League play, 6-2-1 overall.

Coupeville trails Klahowya (3-0) by percentage points atop the league standings, while Port Townsend (1-3) and Chimacum (0-4) are fading fast.

The win allows the 2016 Wolves to tie the ’14 and ’15 teams for most victories in a single season in program history.

Barring a colossal collapse, that record should easily fall, as CHS still has seven regular-season games left on its schedule.

Those games, which begin with a non-conference tilt at home against 2A Port Angeles Thursday (5:15 PM) will give Littlejohn a chance to further add to her season goal total, which now stands above any other Wolf to play the sport.

Rattling home goals #20 and #21 against the Cowboys, the reigning WIAA Athlete of the Week tied, then passed, Abraham Leyva for the school’s single-season scoring mark.

Now that Littlejohn has the season mark, the school’s career record is her next target.

The CHS junior has tallied 29 goals in her stellar career, while Leyva notched 45 scores before graduating in June.

Another sharpshooter with her eye on the scoring marks is Mia’s little sister, sophomore Kalia Littlejohn.

The baby of the family torched the nets for two more goals herself Tuesday, giving her six for the season and 16 for her career.

Kalia finally got the monkey off her back,” said Coupeville coach Troy Cowan. “She has been struggling with her offensive game but I told her to be patient and that she has the greatest foot skills I have ever seen, so use them.

“The second half she started listening, winning possession and scoring goals.”

While the Littlejohns were up to their old ways, two other Wolves scribbled their name into the scoring column for the first time this season.

Senior May Rose connected on one, while freshman Tia Wurzrainer, who has recently moved up the field after playing defense for much of the year, tallied a pair.

May is a very hard working player and tonight her hard work paid off,” Cowan said.

Tia should have probably scored four or five, but she is so unselfish,” he added. “I am hoarse from hollering at her! She is a special player and has a bright future with the Wolves.”

The Wolves worked the ball extremely well, with assists on six of the seven scores.

Mia Littlejohn set up a pair, while Sage Renninger, Lauren Bayne, Wurzrainer and Avalon Renninger all put the ball right where their teammates could take advantage.

Cowan praised them all, but saved a few words for his captain.

Sage is serving the most beautiful balls I have ever seen. I mean she is just dialed in and is electric.”

Mia Littlejohn

Doin’ work on the pitch, where she has 19 goals in eight games this season.

Someone out there is finally paying attention to Cow Town.

We’re only four weeks into the fall sports season and Coupeville High School has already nailed its second Washington Interscholastic Activities Association Athlete of the Week.

This time around it’s junior booter Mia Littlejohn, hailed for her work against Mount Vernon Christian and North Mason.

She scored seven goals between those games — both Wolf wins — part of her state-high 19 scores this season.

Littlejohn, who took home a certificate and a snazzy new beanie, joins Hunter Smith, who was honored in Week #1 for his work on the gridiron.

Call it the big beat-down.

Combining an air-tight defense with another spectacular offensive show from state scoring leader Mia Littlejohn, the Coupeville High School girls’ soccer squad romped to a 4-1 win Thursday over visiting Port Townsend.

The win lifts the Wolves to 3-1 in 1A Olympic League play and pulls them within a half-game of first-place Klahowya (3-0).

Coupeville is 5-2-1 overall, with four wins in its last five matches.

The victory, a nice comeback after a loss at Klahowya earlier in the week, left CHS coach Troy Cowan a bit giddy.

When asked if the Wolves had beat Port Townsend, his response:

“Yes sir, like a drum, like a government mule, like they stole from us!!!”

Littlejohn provided all the offense Coupeville needed, putting together her fifth hat trick of the season.

She has 19 goals at the halfway point of the 16-game regular season, one shy of Abraham Leyva’s single-season school scoring record.

Littlejohn carved up the RedHawk defense in three different ways, scoring on a penalty kick, on an unassisted run, and off of a sweet set-up from Sage “The General” Renninger.

The team captain picked up a second assist when she triggered a play on which defender Lindsey Roberts “connected on a Scud missile shot that found pay dirt.”

It was the second goal this season for the sophomore sensation.

When Port Townsend was on the attack, the RedHawk charge was largely blunted by the Wolf ‘d.’

“Defense played incredible,” Cowan said. “Megan DePorter is a master of running our defense.

“The Wonder Twins (Lindsey Roberts and goalie Lauren Grove) played lights out too.”

Cowan also praised the play of freshman Mallory Kortuem, who “drew the toughest assignment tonight, having to shadow one of the most physically gifted players we face.”

Coupeville travels to Chimacum Tuesday for a league game, then plays three straight non-conference tilts before getting its rematch with Klahowya Oct. 18.

Mia Littlejohn's 16 goals has her in a tie for most in the state. (John Fisken photo)

It’s a two-woman battle, and one of the combatants is a Wolf.

Coupeville High School junior booter Mia Littlejohn is tied for the state lead in goals scored, as least according to MaxPreps.

With four hat tricks in six games (and two of those hat tricks including a fourth score), Littlejohn has rattled home 16 goals, which ties her with Cascade Christian’s Nicole Souply.

No one else on the list has more than 10 goals.

Now, there is a caveat to this, which is not every school stays on top of reporting to MaxPreps.

But, tough for them then, I guess.

Littlejohn is also second in the state in total points, with 33 (you get two points for a goal and one for an assist).

Soupley, who has played in one more game (Cascade Christian is 7-0 to Coupeville’s 4-1-1) sits with 40 points (16 goals, 8 assists) currently.

Up-the-moment Wolf stats (as seen on MaxPreps):

Goals:

Mia Littlejohn 16 (tied for #1 in state)
Kalia Littlejohn 4

PS — As Coupeville prepares for its first-place showdown with Klahowya (4-0-1) Tuesday, the Wolves are now ranked #15 by ScoreCzar, the highest the nefarious computer wizard has ever placed them.
