They’re going to be double-dipping.

Both Coupeville High School softball and baseball have a pair of home doubleheaders on the schedule this coming week, providing ample opportunity for local fans to watch the Wolves in action.

Concrete slides into Cow Town Tuesday for the first of the twin bills, while Forks makes the long journey to the island Saturday.

In between, the Wolf JV softball team will nab its first game of the season Thursday, with Oak Harbor popping in for a game.

CHS track and field is also at home Saturday, hosting the Coupeville Classic Invite, while Wolf girls’ tennis is the lone team to spend any time listening to the bus wheels go round and round.

The netters are slated to travel to Granite Falls Wednesday, before hosting The Bush School Friday afternoon.

As everyone preps for a busy week, a look at where win/loss records sit through April 20:

There’s more to the story than the win/loss record.

While it’s true the Coupeville High School girls’ tennis squad is 0-7 on the season after being nipped 3-2 Friday afternoon by visiting Friday Harbor, that’s not a complete reflection of how the Wolves have been playing.

A team comprised almost completely of younger players and netters new to the game, and one which has dodged a series of injuries, is virtually a shot or two away from being 7-0.

Six of those seven team losses have been by a 3-2 score, with the only one which wasn’t being 3-1 after a singles match was suspended by injury.

As Coupeville rebuilds its program after scraping together a partial roster a season ago, the present, and the future, are much brighter.

And one of the brightest spots is first-year player Dahlia Miller, the lone Wolf to have gone 7-0 this season.

She’s won 13 of 14 sets and been a consistent winner whether playing at #1 or #2 singles.

Friday, with Tenley Stuurmans missing in action, Miller moved to the top of the order and once again delivered, as did Brynn Parker, who slid into the #2 slot.

“It was great!” said CHS coach Starla Seal. “Dahlia and Brynn played well, played quickly, and they were focused and had some beautiful rallies.”

Miller took down a Friday Harbor player, Nikki Cole Clark, who battled at the district tourney last season, which bodes well for this year’s postseason run.

While Coupeville couldn’t get that elusive third win, dropping all three doubles clashes, their duos held up well under pressure.

“Our doubles (teams) played very nicely, great rallies,” Seal said.

Delanie (Lewis) and Miles (Gerber) showed great promise and I’m very happy with how all of the girls played!”

Coupeville now hits the road for three of its next four matches before closing the regular season at home May 7 with Senior Night.

Carson Grove ponders life. (David Somes photo)

A hit-fest it was not.

La Conner and Coupeville’s baseball teams only managed to scrape out two hits combined Thursday, but walks and errors gave the visiting Braves extra life and lifted them to a 7-0 win.

That was payback for a Wolf win Tuesday, with the season split dropping CHS to 3-3 in Northwest 2B/1B League play, 3-7 overall.

Coupeville’s offense spent much of the afternoon stuck in neutral, with the hometown hardball heroes not getting a base knock until Jesus Madrigal ripped a 7th inning single.

Other than that, the Wolves amassed three walks, with Madrigal, Riley Lawless, and Landon Roberts eking out free passes, while Carson Grove got board on an error.

Overall, Coupeville accounted for 20 of its 21 outs via strikeouts, making it hard to keep rallies alive.

La Conner didn’t have much more going, with a third-inning single being its only base hit.

But, fueled by 12 walks and five Wolf errors, the Braves did scrape out two runs in the top of the second, another three in the third, and a final two in the sixth, to account for its runs.

CHS pitchers Landon Roberts (6) and Camden Glover (9) combined to whiff 15 batters to give the Wolves hope and keep more scoring at bay.

Steve Hilborn’s squad returns to action next week, with a home doubleheader Tuesday, April 22 against league rival Concrete.

Game times are 3:00 and 5:00 PM.

“You want me, Teagan Calkins, to go hit another home run? OK, since you asked nicely…” (David Somes photo)

Everything was clicking.

The weather was sunny in La Conner Tuesday, and the Coupeville High School softball squad was in fine form.

Smacking the crud out of the ball — when they weren’t being walked non-stop — the Wolves rolled to a 20-0 win over the Braves in a game mercy-ruled after five innings.

The victory lifts CHS to 5-0 in Northwest 2B/1B League play, 8-1 overall, with a rematch between these two teams set for Thursday in Cow Town.

Coupeville’s pitching ace, fab frosh Adeline Maynes, should be well-rested, as she only tossed two innings Tuesday before handing the golden orb over to sophomore Haylee Armstrong, who added three no-hit frames of work.

The duo combined to whiff 13 Braves, while they and their teammates proved to be mighty mashers once again at the plate.

Coupeville racked up 10 hits to go with 19 walks, with three big blasts forming the highlight reel.

Maynes and Madison McMillan both connected on sharply hit triples, while Wolf catcher Teagan Calkins picked up another home run, while making it interesting.

This time around, “The Red Dragon” walloped a line drive off the fence in deep left field, then turned on the wheels to ramble home with the inside-the-park tater.

Coupeville put the game away early with six runs in the top of the first, and it could have been many, many more.

All three Wolf outs in the first frame came courtesy of CHS coach Aaron Lucero having players leave base early in a bid to keep the game from being insanely lopsided.

A move he almost was sorry about, at least for a brief moment or two.

“I gave away all three outs, then almost regretted it as we struggled to get base runners for a couple innings,” Lucero said with a laugh.

His faith in his team was rewarded, however, as the Wolves tossed seven runs on the board in the third to stretch the lead into double-digits, then strolled in for the win.

Lucero got to give field time to all 16 girls in uniform Tuesday, always a bonus.

Plus, the Wolves will play their next six games at home on the prairie, making for a shorter commute for players, coaches, and fans.

With Coupeville at the halfway point of its 18-game regular season schedule, Lucero likes what he sees.

“The ladies are doing a great job of playing at a high level and making teams try to play up to them,” he said.

Tuesday stats:

Capri Anter — One walk
Haylee Armstrong — Two singles
Taylor Brotemarkle — Two singles, two walks
Teagan Calkins — One single, one home run, two walks
Mia Farris — Three walks
Jada Heaton — Three walks
Emma Leavitt — One walk
Ava Lucero — Two walks
Chloe Marzocca — One single
Adeline Maynes — One triple, one walk
Madison McMillan — One triple, two walks
Sydney Van Dyke — One single, one walk
