The Coupeville to college pipeline continues.

Former Wolf star Lauren Marrs, who has played her high school ball in Oak Harbor, is taking her soccer game to the next level.

She’s officially joining the Skagit Valley College booter program, having signed a letter of intent with the Cardinals.

Marrs was an All-Conference goaltender as a senior at OHHS, helping lead the Wildcats back to the state tournament for the first time in two decades.

When she’s not playing soccer, either for her high school or select squad, Taylor’s older sister is also a standout on the basketball court.

The middle of Brian and Emili’s three daughters — big sis Jaden graduated from CHS and was a cheerleader — Lauren began her sports career in Coupeville and is still a frequent visitor at Wolf games.

A graduate of Coupeville Middle School, she has been at Oak Harbor High School since her freshman year.

Skagit Valley College women’s soccer went 12-2-2 this fall, playing two games at the league tourney.

The best soccer goaltender to ever wear a Coupeville uniform is making a final run at pitch glory in Oak Harbor.

Lauren Marrs was a standout multi-sport athlete in Cow Town during her middle school days, then bounced North for high school.

These days she’s a senior at OHHS and anchoring the defense for the Wildcat girls’ soccer squad.

While still popping in to support Coupeville teams on a regular basis, as seen in the top pic.

Marrs is coming off a major win, as Oak Harbor upended Arlington in a penalty kick shootout to kick off the 3A District 1 playoffs.

Saturday she and her team, who sit at 11-5-1 on the season, head to Ferndale to play the Golden Eagles (13-1-2) in another postseason clash.

Win or lose, Marrs and Co. will keep on playing in the double-elimination tourney, as the ‘Cats chase a state berth.

Marrs denies you.

Celebrating a playoff win.

She retires a Wildcat but remains part of Wolf Nation.

Lauren Marrs is wrapping up a stellar four-year run as a goaltender on the Oak Harbor High School girls’ soccer team, and Tuesday was Senior Night for the Wildcats.

But while she reps the purple and gold these days, the defensive dynamo will always be remembered for her time in Coupeville.

From soccer to basketball, where she burned up the middle school nets with a steady supply of buckets, Marrs was a standout.

When high school arrived, she opted to move to the institution which gave me a diploma once upon a time and continued to show up and show out.

It was her choice, and while I might cry a bit over what could have been if she had remained a Wolf, good on Lauren for always being a class act.

Regardless of the uniform, Marrs bows out as one of the best Whidbey has produced, and she deserves your cheers.

Wanderin’ photo clicker John Fisken, back from a summer RV jaunt across America, spent Saturday in the gym, snapping pics at the Oak Harbor Volleyball Jamboree.

His photos showcase Coupeville, South Whidbey, and the host school in action, and we have a bit of all three in this story.

Don’t get used to them wearing purple and gold.

Coupeville diamond men Chase Anderson and Landon Roberts suited up for Oak Harbor’s U15 baseball squad this weekend, but it was a temporary move, not a permanent one.

Both Wolves will be back in red and black when school starts, but, for a game or two, they played as Wildcats.

Oak Harbor was visiting Ellensburg for a hardball tourney and had a couple of open spots on its roster.

Needing something to fill their early July days, Anderson and Roberts agreed to be mercenaries for the Wildcats.

With help from the Wolf duo, Oak Harbor claimed a pair of ten-run mercy-rule wins, before losing a close one 4-0 and tying 8-8 in its finale, victim of the tourney’s two-hour limit on games.

Roberts held down first base and left field for the Wildcats, with Anderson pulling time at shortstop and on the mound.

The sophomore-to-be went the distance on the bump in game two, shutting down his foes across six innings to earn the win.
