She can’t be contained.

Coupeville High School grad Monica Vidoni mashed her third college softball home run Sunday, a solo pinch-hit blast that helped carry Rainy River Community College to a 7-1 win.

The Voyageurs, who swept their twin-bill with Mesabi Range, winning the nightcap 10-6 (Vidoni singled), have won four straight and 10 of their last 12.

RRCC sits at 22-11 with one doubleheader left on its regular season schedule.

Vidoni, a freshman, has seen action in 27 games for the Minnesota-based school this spring, piling up 15 hits, 13 runs, five extra-base knocks (two doubles to go with the three dingers) and nine RBI.

Two of her former teammates are deep into their college seasons, as well.

Hailey Hammer, a freshman at Everett Community College, has played in 17 games for an 11-13 squad.

She has 10 hits, seven runs, five RBI, three walks and a game-winning home run.

Madeline Roberts, a sophomore at Shoreline Community College, has been on the field in 15 games for the Dolphins, who are 10-8.

The slap-hittin’ outfielder has four hits, four runs, four steals, three walks, two RBI and a double on her resume this season.

Monica Vidoni has left the yard. Again.

The Coupeville High School grad cranked her second college home run Wednesday, part of Rainy River Community College’s epic doubleheader dismantling of Hibbing.

The Voyageurs improved to 16-7 on the season with 31-1 and 16-0 wins.

Vidoni’s home run came in the second game and gave her 13 hits and eight RBI in 21 games during her freshman season in Minnesota.

Rainy River has 22 home runs this year, with six different players having cleared the fence.

Softball season is capping a full year for Vidoni, who also played volleyball and basketball for RRCC.

Vidoni's academic work has been acknowledged.

Vidoni’s academic work has been acknowledged.

She’s killin’ it in the classroom as well as on the athletic stage.

Monica Vidoni, a 2015 graduate of Coupeville High School, was recently honored for her academic work while playing college ball.

Vidoni, who is a freshman at Rainy River Community College, was tabbed to the Minnesota College Athletic Conference’s All-Academic team for volleyball.

It was a pleasant surprise for the hard-working former Wolf.

“I didn’t think that would happen,” said a very happy Vidoni.

She is currently the only former CHS athlete to be playing three sports at the college level, competing for RRCC in volleyball, basketball and softball.

Vidoni and her Voyageur diamond teammates are off to a 4-2 start on their season.

Rainy River went 18-13 in volleyball and 15-11 in basketball.

The regular season is in the books. Now comes the playoffs.

Former Coupeville High School basketball player Monica Vidoni and her Rainy River Community College women’s basketball squad will play in the Region 13B tourney next weekend.

The Voyageurs finished the regular season at 15-10 overall, 9-5 in Minnesota College Athletic Conference play.

They tied with Mesabi Range and Itasca for second place, but will be seeded fourth in the postseason.

That puts them up against top seed Northland, which is ranked third in the country, in a loser-out game Saturday, Feb. 27 in Thief River Falls, Minnesota.

Pull off the upset and they play the winner of Mesabi and Itasca Feb. 28 for a berth in the NJCAA national tournament in New York Mar. 12-14.

During her freshman season Vidoni, who is also playing volleyball and softball at the college, saw action in 19 games.

She’s scored 16 points, snatched 24 rebounds, rejected three shots and pilfered two steals while racking up 118 minutes of floor time.

During her time at CHS Vidoni was a three-sport athlete and was on the Wolf softball team which went to state in 2014.

Got a buck or two to help a former Wolf?

Monica Vidoni, who is currently a freshman at Rainy River Community College in Minnesota, is looking for help to get to Florida with her softball squad.

The Voyageurs will be traveling down there during the first week of March for a five-day tournament, and each player needs to raise $1000 for plane tickets and uniforms.

Vidoni, a 2015 graduate of CHS, is currently in the second of her three sports seasons at Rainy River.

She started with volleyball, is currently playing basketball and then will join softball, mirroring the sports she played as a high school athlete.
