See the net, score the goal

The goal chase begins anew.

Coupeville High School soccer returns to action this Friday, Oct. 11, with a road trip to Cedar Park Christian-Lynnwood to kick off conference play.

The clash will be the first for the Wolves in 10 days and offers a chance for the team to add to its season scoring totals.

They make the scoreboard hum

Some for you, some for you, and some for you.

Three different Wolves tallied six points apiece Friday as the Coupeville High School football team mashed visiting Friday Harbor 18-5 to get to 4-1 on the season.

Davin Houston and Jack Porter snagged touchdowns receptions off of passes from Chase Anderson, while the latter tacked on his first two field goals of the campaign.

Despite missing the team’s only loss in week #3, Anderson, Coupeville’s quarterback and kicker, is well out in front in the scoring race.

But he’s not the only one helping keep the scoreboard operator hoppin’, as the Wolves are a single point shy of averaging 30 a night.

Where things sit as the Wolves prep for a home showdown with South Whidbey this Friday:

End zone love affair blossoms

They’re well acquainted with the end zone.

Through four games, Coupeville High School football players have racked up 131 points, averaging out at 32.75 a week.

That has carried the Wolves to a 3-1 start across non-conference play, with the 2B gridiron warriors having played only 1A foes so far.

This week is Homecoming and brings with it a clash against Northwest 2B/1B League rival Friday Harbor, while the next week will feature the Battle for the Bucket against South Whidbey, also at home.

As CHS preps for back-to-back games at Mickey Clark Field, a look at season-to-date scoring stats:

Snipers have love affair with net

A different day, a different hero.

A third of the way through its 15-game regular season schedule, the Coupeville High School co-ed soccer team has gotten goals from four players.

It’s a tie at the top right now, but the season scoring title is up for grabs, with many more games left on the schedule.

Use your time well.

Not all Coupeville Middle School basketball players have hit the hardwood the full six times this season.

Whether it’s injuries, or other schools not fielding a Level 3 team, some of the Wolves are operating with less game time on their resumes.

And yet, two of the top five scorers this season — Brooklyn Pope and Tenley Stuurmans — are just such players.

Which proves everyone scores at their own pace, and also that some players are just born to burn the nets down.

With that in mind, a look at where the Wolves stand, scoring-wise, with road trips to Sultan and South Whidbey left on the schedule:
