The spikers of tomorrow learned big lessons today.

New Coupeville High School volleyball coach Cory Whitmore and a bunch of his Wolf players gathered at the CHS gym Saturday to put on a skills clinic for the community’s youngest hitters.

Sponsored by the Boys and Girls Club, the event was a fast-paced, fun morning, complete with photographer.

Bouncing around Coupeville to snap pics at several locations, wanderin’ paparazzi John Fisken snagged the glossy photos above, which he was nice enough to share with us.

So many photos still out there…

As we enter that stretch between the end of fall sports and the start of winter sports, I’m going back through the mountains of pics shot during September and October, in an effort to retrieve some of those which never saw the light of day.

It wasn’t that they weren’t great shots, but they ended up being bumped at the time for one reason or another.

Now, we’re reclaiming them.

This time around, it’s Coupeville Middle School volleyball pics shot by travelin’ photo man John Fisken.

Casie Dunleavy

CMS 7th grade coach Casie Dunleavy tries out some mock outrage, though, in her heart, she knows her team is amazing.

Naps are great.

Probably not a good idea when you’re planning to cover middle school volleyball live, and sleep right through actually leaving the house to go attend said match, but it happens.

In my defense, I was up early to do work for the Help House in Oak Harbor, and thought I’d catch a few moments in the middle.

Four hours later I come back to the world, at which point the Coupeville Middle School spikers have already dismantled visiting Port Townsend … from what I was told by people who actually showed up.

Anyway, here’s some lovely photos from previous matches that we haven’t seen before, and call it even.

Me? I’m going back to bed.

Having captured their school-best sixth win in their home finale, the Wolf JV players spread the joy.

They wore pink, and they certainly didn’t stink.

The uniforms were for breast cancer awareness night. The talent on display? That’s always there.

Thoroughly thrashing visiting Chimacum Thursday night, the Coupeville High School spikers continued their recent surge in the standings.

Along for the ride, snapping pics, was travelin’ photo man John Fisken, who provides us with the captured moments in time visible above.

It’s never too early to let the spikes rain down.

A new high school volleyball season is still months away, but that didn’t stop Wolf players and coaches from taking the court Thursday.

They were in the CHS and CMS gyms to kick-off a three-day skills camp for younger players.

The camp, which runs through Saturday, is open to boys and girls in grades 3-8 and gives the current Wolf spikers a chance to train those who will one day follow them onto the court.

Plus, it also gives them a chance to pose for John Fisken’s camera.

So, win-win.
