Amanda Fabrizi was one of the most dynamic athletes in recent Coupeville High School history, but there’s one milestone she never accomplished.

So, today we fix that.

She can now say that she (and younger brother Clay Reilly) have joined the exclusive Coupeville Sports Throwback Thursday club.

I know. I know. The excitement is probably overwhelming.

Good thing Fabrizi has some experience as a lifeguard now. If she gets too light-headed from the rush of making the “big time,” she can always perform CPR on herself.

Their birthdays were yesterday, but today is Throwback Thursday, so we’ll talk about them some more.

Carson Risner and Valen Trujillo hit 18 and 15, respectively, Wednesday, and both are accomplished athletes for Coupeville High School.

But there was a day, back in olden times, when both were just getting going.

So, let’s hop into the Wayback Machine and see those lazy, hazy days of the … early 2000’s.

OK, maybe just Back Machine and not Wayback…

There can only be one!!

From an early age (I’ve known her since she was born) Coupeville High School freshman Hope Lodell has lived by the credo of “Highlander.”

A rampaging force of nature whether playing basketball, volleyball or softball (where she crushed it as a key member of a little league team that went to the state tourney this summer), Hopey is a beast.

Who just happens to be one of the nicest, sweetest, most endearing young women you’ll ever meet, a devoted sister to big bro Noah and a complete charmer.

But don’t buy the nice girl act, cause she’ll rip your heart out and show it to you if you line up opposite her.

While beaming a huge smile.

If you look at the top photo above, which captures her in the days when she was rockin’ the bangs look, you can see a warrior being born.

I am Hope. Hear me roar!!

Sylvia Hurlburt is a bright, shining star.

Whether operating on the track oval, as a Wolf cheerleader, or as a ballet dancer, the Coupeville High School junior excels at about a billion and a half things.

Plus, she does most of it while sportin’ a mega-watt smile of epic joy.

But there were a few moments, early on, when the smile was just barely beginning to creep out around the edges.

One such sliver of time is depicted in the first photo above, which captures Miss Hurlburt when she was still Lil’ Miss Hurlburt.

You can see the smile coming, but there’s a wee bit of “what was I thinking getting up here in the first place” also on her face.

No worries. The smile won out in the end.

Coupeville has a long tradition of sisters excelling in sports.

Two recent combos to make waves are the Kiels (big sis Katie and lil’ sis Kacie) in volleyball, basketball and cheer and the Roberts (Madeline and Ally) in softball, volleyball, cheer and horse riding.

Thanks to the wonders of the Wayback Machine, we can jump back in time to see the Wolf stars when they were on their way up.

They all got at least a little taller over the years, but the personalities were already in place, as well as the bond that only sisters can share.
