Score one for the public schools.
The Coupeville High School girls’ tennis team rolled into Seattle Saturday and captured a hard-fought 3-2 win over the University Prep JV squad, sending a shot across the bows of ritzy private schools everywhere.
With the non-conference victory, the Wolves get to 4-3 on the season and finally get to think about heading home for a match.
CHS hosts Friday Harbor Wednesday in the third of their four Northwest 2B/1B League showdowns, the first time the Wolves have hosted a match since April 3.
Saturday’s win, which featured a variety of match styles (two sets, one set, pro set) was sparked by a sweep from singles players Tenley Stuurmans and Savannah Coxsey.

1st Singles — Tenley Stuurmans won 6-0, 6-0
2nd Singles — Savannah Coxsey won 6-4
1st Doubles — Dahlia Miller/Aleksia Jump won 8-4
2nd Doubles — Jade Peabody/Rowan Stoner lost 8-3
3rd Doubles — Hailey Goldman/Hazel Goldman lost 8-1

4th Doubles — Savannah Coxsey/Miles Gerber lost 8-4
5th Doubles — Lakshmi Erickson/Milana Light lost 11-9
6th Doubles — Jade Peabody/Rowan Stoner won 8-2
