New adventures await Landon Roberts.

The Coupeville High School grad, coming off a stellar senior year where he was honored as the CHS Male Athlete of the Year, has signed to play college baseball next spring.

Roberts is headed to Walla Walla Community College, and he put pen to paper Tuesday to make his hardball commitment official.

Landon, who joined big sis Lindsey as well as parents Jon and Sherry in being honored as a CHS Athlete of the Year, will also be pursuing educational goals in Eastern Washington.

He will be working towards obtaining an Associate of Applied Science degree in Welding and Fabrication.

The parental units watch their son make it official.

Landon is a fifth-generation Coupeville grad, with numerous members of both sides of the family having attended CHS.

The latest all-star from the clan was a team captain for all three of his teams, helping guide the CHS cross country, basketball, and baseball programs to great success.

The Wolves come out to support one of their own.

The harriers advanced to state during Roberts final two seasons, with the Wolves finishing in the top 10 in the team standings both times.

On the basketball hardwood, he was tabbed as the varsity Defensive MVP as a senior, while also proving to be a deadly shooter in high-pressure moments.

On the baseball diamond, where he helped the Wolves advance to state as a sophomore and junior, Landon was a pitching ace who also filled in wherever help was needed.

That included doing time as an infielder, an outfielder, and, late in his prep career, as a rock-solid catcher.

He capped his CHS run by playing in the All-State feeder games, joining a select group of former Wolves who have gotten the call.

Wolf coaches hail the three-sport captain.

Winner in the throwing pit, winner in the classroom.

Coupeville grad Taygin Jump, now a sophomore track and field star at Plattsburgh State in New York, received another honor Tuesday.

She was one of five Cardinals named to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District Track and Field Team.

She joins Plattsburgh teammates Grace Yarkosky, Charles Cypress, Faris Webber, and Isaiah Martens-Collins.

To be eligible for the team, an athlete needed a 3.50 or higher grade point average, while also placing in the top 50 in their region in at least one event.

Jump, who is majoring in Environmental Planning & Management/Geology, finished her sophomore season ranked in the top 18 in her region in both the javelin and weight throw.

The former Wolf ace topped things off with a sixth-place finish in the javelin at the league championships.

It’s been a busy week of honors for Jump, who five days ago was tabbed to the State University of New York Athletic Conference Academic Honor Roll.

During her days at CHS, Aleksia and Khanor’s big sis played school and club volleyball, as well as performing for the Wolf track team.

Tate Wyman showed up and showed out Friday in Oregon. (Photo courtesy Amber Wyman)

He’ll rest tomorrow.

Coupeville grad Tate Wyman had a busy, and productive Friday, competing in three track and field events almost at the same time at the Cascade Collegiate Conference Outdoor Championships.

Wyman, now a sophomore at Oregon Tech, bounced between the 4 x 100 relay, the long jump, and the 110 hurdles while vying at Southern Oregon University in Ashland.

Literally.

The former Wolf ran in the relay, zipped over and did two jumps, rambled off to run the hurdles, then returned to finish his field event.

And how did he do while ping-ponging around?

Pretty dang good, as Wyman nabbed three top five finishes and two PRs before he was done.

Ayden and Devon’s big bro finished 3rd in the long jump, sailing 22 feet, 5.75 inches, beating his previous collegiate best.

He also set a PR in the hurdles, claiming 4th in 15.75 seconds, while running a leg on a relay team which earned 5th in 42.31.

The oldest of the Wyman siblings is continuing a run of excellence, as he was a top cross country runner and track athlete before graduating in 2023 from Coupeville High School.

Taygin Jump

No matter the day or time, she’s going to give you her best.

Taygin Jump’s odyssey at the State University of New York Athletic Conference Outdoor Track and Field Championships went a bit longer than expected this weekend, but the former Wolf finished with a bang.

The Coupeville grad, now a sophomore at Plattsburgh State, started the two-day meet in Cortland, New York on Friday by finishing sixth in the javelin toss, uncorking a throw of 94 feet, two inches.

Then she and her fellow competitors started the hammer throw, only to have poor weather shut things down early.

Instead of finishing Friday, Jump and company returned to the arena at the crack of dawn Saturday, with Aleksia and Khanor’s older sister setting a PR by launching her implement 127-08.

That was three inches better than her previous collegiate high-water mark and earned the Cardinal thrower ninth place out of 20 contestants.

Jump, who played school and club volleyball and competed in track and field during her CHS days, is majoring in Environmental Planning and Management/Geology at Plattsburgh.

Tate Wyman is burning up the track, and the books.

The Coupeville High School grad, now a sophomore at Oregon Tech, finished 2nd in the 100 and 3rd in the 200 Saturday at the Nancy and Norm Berney Classic in Salem.

Wyman hit the tape in 11.44 seconds in the shorter event, and 23.04 in the longer one.

He also stacked up well against a large field of competitors, with 27 men participating in the 100 and 16 coming to the line for the 200.

Overall, Wyman picked up 14 points for the Hustlin’ Owls.

His performance at Saturday’s meet capped a stellar couple of days for the former Wolf, who was honored earlier in the week for his academic performance.

Wyman was named to both the Daktronics-NAIA Scholar-Athletes list, which honors students who have at least a 3.50 grade point average, and to the Cascade Conference All-Academic team.
