You can disguise the fact they’re Wolves, but not that they’re winners.

Coupeville High School baseball stars Landon Roberts, Camden Glover, and Chase Anderson have spent the summer wearing Oak Harbor colors for travel ball.

Along the way, the trio and their teammates have played in five tournaments, and capped things this weekend by sweeping four games in Ellensburg to capture a tourney title in the Central Washington Bullpen Series.

The Wildcats (and their Wolf compatriots) won 10-9, 13-3, 8-0, and 11-10 across two days of play to earn the crown.

Roberts, who will be a CHS senior, patrolled right field while also pitching in two games.

Meanwhile, Glover held down third base (and pitched out of the bullpen) while Anderson pulled off his best Edgar Martinez tribute as a hard-hitting DH.

The countdown continues.

A new season of Coupeville High School football officially begins August 21, but that doesn’t mean the Wolves aren’t staying busy during the summer.

Bennett Richter’s team was in Adna recently for a team camp, and the photos seen above and below come to us from that event.

Chase Anderson was a First-Team All-Conference pick on both offense and defense last year as a sophomore. (Andrew Williams photo)

Chase Anderson is a one-man wrecking crew.

The Coupeville High School junior capped his team’s trip to the Adna Pirates Football Camp by winning the event’s Punt-Pass-Kick competition.

By himself.

While most of the eight teams in attendance, including 2B state runner-up Napavine, operated with a relay system, Anderson handled all three components by himself.

He opened by firing a pass 55 yards, launched a precision punt, then won the event with a 38-yard field goal.

Which is well within his range, as Anderson has nailed a 60-yard try in practice, a moment captured on film by CHS coaches.

The three-sport athlete, who is also a key part of Wolf basketball and baseball squads, is expected to be the focal point for a new-look Coupeville gridiron squad.

After playing at receiver previously, Anderson replaces the graduated Logan Downes at quarterback this season.

He’s also expected to play safety, while handling the team’s kicking duties.

They’re in pause mode for the moment.

The regular season is done, and now the Coupeville High School baseball squad is playoff-bound.

The postseason kicks off for the Wolves Saturday, May 11, when they travel to Lakewood High School for the District 1/2 tourney, where they’ll try and punch a return trip to state.

As they wait, a look at season to date stats through May 4.

Wolf junior Jada Heaton is a busy bee, having played three sports for three seasons running. (Photos by JohnsPhotos.net)

We have a record. I believe.

I’ve been tracking the number of three-sport athletes at Coupeville High School since the blog started in 2012, and an early look at spring rosters indicates this is the deepest year ever.

There are 24 Wolves — 14 boys and 10 girls — who are finishing their year-round odyssey.

That breaks the previous high of 23, achieved in 2014, 2017, and 2022.

Not counting 2020, where Covid restrictions erased spring sports and made the concept of three-sport athletes impossible to achieve, CHS has had 20+ iron men and women almost every year in the Coupeville Sports era.

The only sub-20 years were 2013, when 18 Wolves completed the journey, and 2016, when we hit our low of 17.

At a small school like CHS, having full rosters is huge, and it speaks strongly to the work put in by Athletic Director Willie Smith and his coaches.

And it’s also a testament to the work ethic of the Wolf athletes themselves, as they fully embrace the chance to get the most possible out of their prep sports careers.

So, tip your hat to the ones who are there, every season:
