Give ’em some overtime.

With two football games in five days, the Coupeville High School cheerleaders were busy, and yet, as always, their spirits never flagged.

The photos above, capturing the Wolves at work during Tuesday’s home JV gridiron battle, are courtesy travelin’ photo man John Fisken.

Aiden

Aiden Crimmins (right, in glasses and robe) hangs out with his fellow sophomores, who are bringing back the student cheering section.

They are twin titans of school spirit.

Coupeville High School senior Ciera St Onge and sophomore Aiden Crimmins share a birthday and a willingness to put themselves out in front of the crowd.

St Onge has been at the forefront of the Wolf cheer team for several years, bringing a sparkle in her eye and a skip in her step to her work on the sidelines.

Vivacious and full of life, she is a ball of fire, whether it’s football or basketball season.

Crimmins, who is looking a little like Clark Kent these days, turns into Superman when it’s time to help lead the student cheering section.

He and his fellow sophomores, guys like Jimmy Myers, Uriel Liquidano and Jonathan Thurston, have revived the art of wearing costumes and verbally harassing rival free-throw shooters.

After a bit of a down period, as a once-proud, jam-packed CHS student section dwindled down to one guy looking at his phone, it’s nice to see the thrill back.

Both St Onge and Crimmins have bought in, completely, to supporting their classmates and their school.

That both are also highly intelligent, super friendly people who succeed at everything they do, is a given.

On this, their joint birthday, let’s all take a moment to cheer for THEM and for all they do.

Can I get a C-I-E-R-A and an A-I-D-E-N?

What does that spell?

Awesome! Yep, that’s what it spells.

One final bit of team unity.

One final bit of team unity.

They were small in numbers, but big in spirit.

When Coupeville High School sports went inside for the winter, the number of Wolf cheerleaders crashed from 25-30 girls down to 5-7.

That didn’t make them any less loud or proud, however, as they filled the CHS gym with their vocal work during basketball season.

Monday night’s boys’ hoops game against Klahowya brought an end to their work days in their home gym, but, before the cheerleaders wrapped up the season, they stopped to honor their four seniors.

Popping up at mid-court to document the moment was travelin’ photo man John Fisken, who provides us with the pics that reside above.

Their numbers are down, but their enthusiasm is always up.

The move inside from the football gridiron to the basketball hardwood has shrunk the Coupeville High School cheer squad from the 20’s to a still very-committed six girls.

Whatever they lack in numbers is made up for in their ability to light up the crowd through their yells and dance moves.

Next time you’re at a Wolf basketball game, take a moment to give them a hand.

P.S. — Payton Wilson was not there the day these photos were taken, which is why she’s missing from our lineup. She gets equal props, if no photo.

Kameryn St Onge

Kameryn St Onge

Kameryn St Onge comes alive in art class.

“I love art class. I love creating colorful new dreams.”

On the volleyball court, the Coupeville High School freshman is just starting to paint her own dreams, as well.

After picking up the sport in middle school, she’s moved up a level and hoping to take huge strides in her game.

“I want to do club volleyball,” St Onge said. “And hopefully get a scholarship to the University of Washington.”

Volleyball is her lone sport right now (“So, for the rest of the year I can just focus on school work”), and she’s hard at work refining her skill set.

“I just love playing and spiking and all my fabulous team mates,” St Onge said. “My fellow players have helped me stay positive when I’m down.”

She’s fairly confident in her hitting, but, like any other young, developing player, knows she still has areas to work on.

“I would say spiking (is a strength),” St Onge said. “I need to work on ball control more.”

Off the court, the younger sister of Wolf cheerleader Ciera St Onge is a music fan (“I love rock music!”) and has a serious relationship with the online leader in entertainment.

“Netflix is my life!”
