Cow Town is a hoops hotbed.

Business on the prairie hardwood is booming, with the Coupeville Youth Basketball Association drawing in more and more players each season.

The teams pictured above and below represent just a fraction of the kids living the hoops life, while showcasing the talent coming up through the pipeline.

The 2nd/3rd grade squad in yellow went 8-0, while the 4th/5th grade team repping red was an impressive 8-1, with both netting titles.

Has anyone replaced the nets, cause these guys just burnt them down.

If you open the gym, they will come.

The Coupeville Youth Basketball Association held a two-day skills camp for kids in grades K-5, attracting nearly 60 players.

The event was broken down into two groups, with K-2 playing together and 3-5 taking the court after them.

High school and middle school coaches led the camp, while current CHS players assisted, creating a positive experience for players both young and (relatively) old.

“God’s Chosen Sport” calls to your children.

The Coupeville Youth Basketball Association is offering a skills camp for students entering grades K-5.

You need to be a Coupeville School District student to participate, and the event goes down June 27-28 in the CHS gym.

There will be two sessions, with grades 3-5 running from 1:00-3:00 PM both days, and K-2 going from 3:30-5:00.

Cost is $30 per student, and if you register by June 14, you guarantee your child a camp t-shirt.

God’s Chosen Sport is thriving in Cow Town.

The Coupeville Youth Basketball Association kicked off a new season this week, with more than 160 future stars vying for dominance in the paint.

The organization benefits greatly from its vast array of volunteer coaches, plus having high school hoops aces serve as refs and scorekeepers.

Plus, toss in the 21 sponsors who stepped up financially, and things are soaring.

The focus, as always, is on the children out on the floor, as they develop their skill set and prepare for success, now and in the future.

“They came out and made us all proud with their effort, passion, and awesome attitudes today!” said CYBA’s Facebook page.

“Looking forward to a great season!”

They may be young but have already chosen wisely by embracing basketball. (Stevie Glover photo)

Can you ignore the siren call of the basketball court?

No, you cannot, and should not.

If you have a child in Coupeville in K-5, it’s your responsibility to help encourage your offspring to learn to love the one true sport.

Listen, I don’t make the rules, I just pass them on.

With that being said, registration for the 2024 season of the Coupeville Youth Basketball Association is open now, so get crackin’.

Cost is $40 per player, and that seems very reasonable to introduce a child to what many are calling “God’s chosen sport.”

Yeah, it’s me. I’m “many” in this scenario.

Anyways, last day to register is Friday, Dec. 8, with practice beginning right after the holidays on Jan. 8.
