There’s no consensus.

Coming off of a 78-0 win over La Conner, the Coupeville High School football team sits at 6-1 on the season, and finds itself ranked differently by three different sources.

Evans Rankings has the Wolves at #6 among 2B schools, the Washington Interscholastic Activities Association RPI has them #7, and the newest Associated Press poll, released Wednesday, sticks them at #10.

With the AP poll, that’s down one slot from last week, when Coupeville held its highest ranking of the campaign at #9.

Ultimately, though, it all comes down to what the Wolves do on the field, and they’ll get back at it Friday when they travel to Friday Harbor.

A win there — and CHS beat the Wolverines 35-3 earlier this season — and Coupeville claims the Northwest 2B/1B League title and the program’s first trip to the state tourney since 1990.

Associated Press 2B poll for week 9:

1. Napavine – (8-0) – 90 poll points
2. Okanogan – (8-0) – 80
3-tie. Lind-Ritzville/Sprague – (6-1) – 65
3-tie. Toledo – (6-1) – 65
5. River View – (7-1) – 46
6. Columbia (Burbank) – (6-2) – 35
7. Chewelah (Jenkins) – (5-2) – 26
8. Raymond – (6-2) – 24
9. Pe Ell/Willapa Valley – (5-3) – 19
10. Coupeville (6-1) – 17

Others receiving 6 or more points: Liberty (Spangle) – 12

Big hits, big pics.

The Coupeville High School football season has been filled with plenty of both.

The Wolves have roared out to a 5-1 record as they head to Leavenworth for a Friday Night Lights matchup with Cascade.

Things started strongly back in the waning moments of summer, when the CHS gridiron squad excelled at a jamboree in Sultan.

The photos above and below, which come to us courtesy Wolf Mom Nikki Breaux, are from that event.

The weather was nice, the parade even better.

Coupeville High School students and supporters took to the streets Friday afternoon for the annual Homecoming parade, a lead-in to the Wolves decimating Friday Harbor 35-3.

The pregame warmups are their own show.

A big part of Friday Night Lights comes as fans begin to wander in, while football players and cheerleaders get limbered up and ready for the action ahead.

Catching the action at a recent home game was Coupeville High School student Brenn Sugatan, who delivers the pics seen above and below.

Fortified by snacky goodness and ready for a long night of cheering.

“What kind of shampoo you using? Cause dang, the mane is flowin’!”

Round and round they run.

“Simmer down, man. I’ll stand up when I’m ready.”

Before you throw down a beat-down, always remember to stretch.

Jonathan Valenzuela was in on nine tackles Friday in a win over Sultan. (Photo by JohnsPhotos.net)

The numbers keep piling up.

Week three of the high school football season brought a win to Coupeville, as the Wolves stomped visiting Sultan 30-13 Friday night.

Running wild over the Turks, the Wolves, now 2-1 heading into a trip to La Conner, added to their season totals on both sides of the ball.

From touchdowns, to tackles for loss, to fumble recoveries, CHS coaches plugged it all into MaxPreps, and then I came along to pluck the fruit which will get me sweet, sweet page hits.

So, here you go, some season-to-date stats to marinate in.
