They shoot, they score.

The Coupeville High School basketball teams combined to collect 228 donations during a holiday gift drive.

Everything will now be donated to the Holiday Help House, which will disperse gifts to families in Coupeville and Oak Harbor.

“It’s a great accomplishment, and shows how much our kids truly care for our community!,” said CHS Athletic Director Willie Smith.

With cookies on the line, the Wolf girls pulled out the win 124-104.

“In a close competition — and after much wailing and moaning and demand of multiple recounts — the girls came out on top!,” Smith said.

“Not sure what kind of cookies they’ll receive from the boys — raisin cookies is what I heard — but, if you see any of our basketball players, give them a hardy high-five and some kudos for a job well done!”

A gift drive for those in need wraps up soon.

The Coupeville High School basketball teams are spearheading the event, with donation boxes in the gym lobby.

Friday night’s home doubleheader against Darrington — girls varsity at 5:15, boys at 7:00, no JV — offers a final chance for fans to bring gifts with them to a game.

The boxes will be pulled Dec. 15, with all donations going to the Holiday House North.

The Wolves are looking for unwrapped gifts which can be redistributed to families in Coupeville and Oak Harbor.

There are actually two boxes, as CHS girls and boys hoops programs are competing against each other to see who can bring in the most gifts.

Cookies are at stake, and, currently, the Wolf girls are crushing the boys like the Harlem Globetrotters squaring off with the Washington Generals.
