They’re the electric eleven.

Nine Wolf boys and two girls have scored in Coupeville High School soccer games this fall, up from a total of seven booters last time we compiled season scoring stats.

There’s still plenty of games to play, as well, so our numbers could continue to soar.

The guys have seven regular season rumbles left on the schedule, while their female counterparts have either five or six, depending on whether a postponed clash with Sultan is rescheduled.

How things look through Oct. 6:

GIRLS:

Ayden Wyman – 4
Carolyn Lhamon – 1

BOYS:

Aidan Wilson – 5
Cameron Epp – 3
Reiley Araceley – 2

Nick Guay – 2
Alex Smith – 2
Cael Wilson – 2

Two, for every one of yours.

The Coupeville High School girls soccer team is outscoring its male counterparts 12-6 through the first six games of the season.

That could be why the former team is 3-3, while the latter is 2-4.

Overall, 10 different Wolves have slapped the ball into the back of the net during fall 2021, led by Audrianna Shaw, who has tallied a school-best four goals.

Where the scoring races sit as of Oct. 4:

Girls:

Audrianna Shaw – 4
Sophie Martin – 3

Xavier Murdy has a nose for the net.

Sophie Martin leads the charge.

The Coupeville High School senior has netted five career goals as a Wolf, placing her atop all active CHS soccer scorers heading into a new season.

When Coupeville kicks off the fall campaign — first day of practice is next Monday, August 23 — there will be 11 players who possess eligibility and have at least one varsity goal on their resume.

While we don’t know yet if all of those booters — six girls and five boys — will return to action for the Wolves, we do know who they’ll be chasing.

Mia Littlejohn owns both CHS girls soccer records, having tallied 27 goals in a single season, and 35 for her career.

Over on the boys side of the ledger, the records are split between a pair of cousins, with Derek Leyva having torched the net for 24 scores in a season, while Abraham Leyva finished with 45 career tallies.

Martin’s five goals places her in a five-way tie with Anna Dion, Britt Harpe, Jenn Spark, and Tia Wurzrainer.

The Wolf senior needs four goals to supplant Sage Renninger (8) as the sixth-best scorer in program history, and if she doubles her career total she can join an exclusive club of Wolves to reach double digits.

That list includes Mia Littlejohn (35), Kalia Littlejohn (33), Genna Wright (20), Lindsey Roberts (17), and Avalon Renninger (12).

For the boys program, the top active scorers are senior Xavier Murdy and junior Aidan Wilson, who both sit with three career goals.

Career goal totals for active Wolf players:

GIRLS:

Sophie Martin – 5
Eryn Wood – 3
Carolyn Lhamon – 1
Ava Mitten – 1
Audrianna Shaw – 1
Reese Wilkinson – 1

BOYS:

Xavier Murdy – 3
Aiden Wilson – 3
Nick Guay – 1
Cole White – 1

Chayse Van Velkinburgh and dad Dustin – two generations of goal-scoring soccer hotshots. (Photo by JohnsPhotos.net)

You can’t contain him, and you certainly can’t stop him.

While his playing time has been limited as the world battles through a pandemic, Coupeville soccer ace Chayse Van Velkinburgh has taken advantage of his opportunities.

Back on the field Sunday, the CES 4th grader knocked in a pair of goals to spark his U9 NWU squad to a 5-2 win over Deception FC.

What made the two-goal game an even bigger feat was Van Velkinburgh spent the game playing on the back line, anchoring the NWU defense.

But given a brief shot at blue sky, he made like dad Dustin back in the day, and sent the ball careening towards the net, hitting pay dirt.

It was the second game for the younger Van Velkinburgh and his teammates this season.
