Register for junior cheer today

It’s their time in the spotlight.

Registration is open for Coupeville Elementary School students who want to be part of this year’s Junior Cheer program.

Run by the Spirit of Cheer Booster Club, the event brings together the next generation of Wolves with current CHS cheerleaders.

Practice days are held on four straight Thursdays (Sept. 19 and 26, and Oct. 3 and 10), with the group performance during Coupeville’s Oct. 11 home football game against South Whidbey.

Cost is $70 per child, with each participant receiving new pre-fluffed metallic poms and a sweatshirt.

Online registration closes Sept. 16 at 7:00 PM, or when they hit the limit of 100 junior cheerleaders.

Wolf cheerleaders embrace pancake power

Loud, proud, and surrounded by pancakes.

Coupeville High School cheerleaders spent Saturday morning serving up hot breakfasts to customers at Applebee’s during a fundraiser for the Wolf spirit program.

It was the first of two money-raisers on the immediate schedule, as the cheer squad will also host a sports physical night at CHS June 10.

That event runs from 5-7:00 PM and costs $40 per student. Any questions about that night can be answered by dialing up (360) 678-2421.

Wolf cheerleaders lead food drive

Coupeville’s cheerleaders are leading the charge to feed their community.

The Wolf spirit leaders, working with the Spirit of Cheer Booster Club, are running a Back-to-School Food Drive to help the Gifts from the Heart Food Bank.

This is in response to word that Coupeville’s food bank is at an “all-time low,” and seriously in need of donations to continue its work.

Food can be dropped off at several locations, including the lobbies at Coupeville Middle/High School and Coupeville Elementary.

Other spots accepting donations include Peoples Bank, the Pacific Northwest Art School, and Living Hope Foursquare Church.
