Saturday night brought four hoops games to Coupeville and wandering photographer John Fisken was on hand to snap pics of all the action.

Make the nets pop

The fab five is filling up the bucket.

So far, 37 different Coupeville High School basketball players have scored this season, with four boys and one girl averaging double-digits.

Junior gunner Logan Downes leads the way, having topped 20 points in each of four games.

At 23.5 a night, he’s joined by fellow varsity vets Alex Murdy (13.8), Alita Blouin (13.0), and Nick Guay (10.8), as well as JV ace Chase Anderson (10.0).

The week ahead gives that five-pack, and their teammates, plenty of chances to ring up some more points.

Wolf varsity teams face Crescent, Sedro-Woolley, and Forks in a four-day span between Wednesday and Saturday, with the JV playing against the second and third of those foes.

A busy week awaits.

Heading towards the holidays, Coupeville High School basketball teams are set to play three times in a four-day period.

The Wolves host Crescent Wednesday in a varsity-only rumble, then split locales a day later.

While Coupeville’s two boys’ squads are home Thursday against Sedro-Woolley, the CHS girls hit the road that night to face the same opponent.

The Wolves then wrap the week with an epic trek to Forks Saturday.

As they prep for next week, a look at where Northwest 2B/1B League schools sit through games of Dec. 10:

Hoops teams stage toy drive

Shoot your shot.

Coupeville High School basketball teams are staging a holiday toy drive next week, with a bit of competition added.

Both the Wolf girls and boys will have their own box in the entrance to the CHS gym, and the results will be tallied Friday, Dec. 16 to see which program brought in the most gifts.

All donations of new, unopened toys will be given to the Help House.

Coupeville’s gym complex will be busy next week, with games held on three days.

Monday, the middle school boys host Sultan, while Wednesday features a high school doubleheader against Crescent, as well as the middle school finale against South Whidbey.

During the varsity-only showdown with Crescent, fans are encouraged to wear their best/ugliest holiday sweater or outfit, or dress as their favorite holiday character.

The week’s home games wrap Thursday, with the high school boys hosting Sedro-Woolley.

It’s all about the sound of that sweet swish.

Defense, hustle, and intangibles matter a lot in basketball, but games are decided by who scores the most points.
